I opted for a RB solitaire. It was something I always wanted. My mom had a RB solitaire along with a 5 RB stone wedding band and I always thought it was classic. In my mind, side stones would have been too much when the e-ring was combined with the diamond wedding band.

If I had a different cut for my e-ring and I wasn't wearing a diamond wedding band with it at the same time, I would probably opt for a 3 stone setting.

i agree with the earlier posts too! if you plan to wear your e-ring & wedding band together & you plan to have a wedding band full of bling, better to go for a solitaire :smile1:

but the good thing with the baguette side stones is that they're not too flashy or too much bling, so it might work too, esp if the diamonds in the wedding band arent too big.

:woohoo:Lol RisingSun, I have looked at your thread on the HOF set multiple times! I LOVE it. Those diamonds look absolutely stunning and gorgeous on you!

We all have different preferences. This is my HOF wedding set...

ooh would love to see pics of your rings!

My engagement ring is a round solitaire. I adore it! I didn't choose, the BF picked it out. Today he bought me another diamond ring that kind of "fits" with it; I have no idea what it's called, but it's made to complement a solitaire; when you wear both together it looks like a solitaire ring with tapered stones, as similar to the OP (baguettes, and smaller round stones, I believe, but I have no clue about all the different diamond names/cuts/styles). I like the concept, although I didn't think about it at all before he mentioned buying it; the solitaire by itself was just fine. It's being sized down from a 7 to a 5.75, but I can't WAIT to get it! Although, if he had put what he spent today with what he spent on the solitaire, I could have had a larger solitaire! But I don't complain--it's the thought that counts, and I didn't ask for either one, and hey, who turns down diamonds? Not me, amigo.

Well, the ring enhancer (I googled the term) is being sized. I won't have it for another week or so according to the jeweler.

When I first got engaged I posted a pic of my ring, but because my camera wasn't so great and didn't have good macro settings the flash kind of washed it out/whitened it...but in actuality it's quite clear and sparkly. The enhancer ring is modest as well, only .5 carats total, which makes the entire set a bit over 1.5 carats...I know this is a lot lower than the average ring sizes here, but...I wouldn't trade my rings for anything, and I'm more than satisfied since it's the sentimental thought that counts! BF picked out the solitaire; we both picked out the enhancer from a small, although reputable local jeweler. Not sure why he wanted to get me the enchancer, but he got a bonus recently and maybe he feels he didn't buy "big enough" the first time? I don't care about all that stuff--if I did I'd have asked that he spent MORE of his bonus on a more sizable ring. (LOL) But he knows I love the solitaire, so...go figure. When I get the other ring I'll have to take a better pic (maybe outdoors or something) and repost!

Pic here:

This is my engagement ring (engaged 2-14-08), which my BF picked out, and which I absolutely love to pieces, am terrified of losing, and gaze at a few dozen times per day!

The band in the pic is not a gift from the BF; it's something I already had, and I kind of like the look of both rings instead of just the solitaire--maybe I sound silly but I'd rather appear to be "married" than "engaged."

DH and I went with a princess solitare, although we did look at 3-stone rings. In the end we decided to put the money into one larger stone as opposed to breaking it apart for 3 smaller stones.

I have a solitaire with vintage-y pavé.

Personally I am not a huge fan of baguettes, but that's just me. My friend has a very elegant 2.5+ carat diamond with baguettes and she loves it.

Ultimately DH and I want to turn my ring into a *full on* three stone, using my original diamond as one of the side stones. I am just a *chunky/clunky* jewelry fan, not so much into delicate shapes.
