keep in mind that mine is the large tote, so the dimensions are 14x12x5. i didn't know what size notebook you meant, so i took a pic with a spiral notebook and a 3-ring binder. they both fit, and barely stick out above the top. i can still get it on my shoulder with no problems at all.

PERFECT! thanks so much, i really appreciate this picture. i tried on the large black one (my store had one in the back), but i didn't have any notebooks or anything to stick in there to see how they would fit. i am SO much more excited to get this bag now! :yahoo:
