Thank you all for your help! Such a hard choice! I loved both in person--ultimately I went with the black Epi. I decided that it went best with my wardrobe and it is completely worry free which I wanted. It is such a classic which will stand the test of time! Maybe one day I will get the vernis--but for now I am on ban island! So it will be some time! I can't tell you how much you all helped me!!! TPF members are simply the best!!

That's great. As long as you're happy with your purchase that's all that matters. Enjoy your new bag!

I think you made a good choice. A black epi Alma is truly forever!

Yes! That is exactly what I thought--I am trying to only get classic bags now. I am trying to make mindful purchases--especially with the price increases. And this Epi is perfect! Thank you again!
Yay you bought your bag! Alma is classic. Black epi is also classic. Together they are timeless! You listened to your gut and made a very thoughtful decision that you will not regret. Congratulations and enjoy @jill39 .

No one has mentioned this yet, but if u live in a humid country, vernis gets sticky over time if left unused. This is one sad characteristic of patent leather. It happens to all patent leather, even vernis.
Yes, it happened to mine, i was so heartbroken! I have a alma bb vernis in amarante since 2015, it started to turn sticky after few years likely due to improper storage (hardly use the bag). One fine day, reached out for the bag and i was so torn with the stickiness of the bag! So i vote alma epi for you.
I sent my bag to the bag spa for restoration, with hopes they can at leaat reduce the stickiness. Fingers crossed !

I dried my vernis bag in a dry box for a few months and it’s now less sticky! I will have to start using it again and see if it stays that way.

Please use the bag, show some love to your alma bb, its a beauty ! hehe. I did try few methods i googled online, but to no avail. if the bag spa cant fix the problem, i'll just live w it. Oh well

I'm curious about this - does Louis Vuitton have a bag spa similar to Hermes where you can send your bag to them to have it restored (and pay a fee to do so)? If yes, do you just take your bag to a local LV boutique? Thanks.

Oh no, Lv dont provide such service. I sent my bag to local bag spa, specialised in cleaning, repair and restoration.

They’ll do repairs, can replace parts, etc. and in some cases may offer a credit if unrepairable (depending on age of bag and whether it deemed defective). Just take it to boutique. I once had a wallet deemed defective and given credit. I’ve had vachetta replaced for old bag

Just want to share that sadly there’s a defect with the lovely bag I brought home. It rocks—doesn’t sit flat. Guess there’s something not right with the feet. Still love the bag though so I’ll ask for an exchange. I’m just not looking forward to this process at all. I really don’t like returning or exchanging anything. But it actually makes noise when it rocks on the floor. Lol! Not sure how I didn’t notice this in the store. But I didn’t! Ugh!!

Just another update--I returned the epi alma--so sad! The store did not have another one for an exchange, and my SA said she could order one for me but that it could come in the same way. Not very encouraging. So I guess I will wait until my store gets in some other ones in the future. Or, if I see one when traveling that is in good condition. Guess this lovely epi alma will be on my wish list for now! Something to look forward to I guess! Thank you all for your help and advice again!

That's so strange - the SA said the replacement bag would also not sit flat?

I have a black epi alma bb and it sits perfectly flat.

Maybe try a different SA or a different store?
