I have a friend with a three stone pink sapphire and diamond ring from Tiffany with a diamond and pink sapphire band as her wedding set. It is so pretty and very "her." I think if you love it, you should get it. But I do have to say personally I'm very matchy-matchy and having a colored ring would drive me nuts. For others it just works!

How do pink sapphires hold up under all types of wear? I had a blue topaz that I went swimming with and it completely ruined the shine. Diamonds would never have that issue.

I love pink and its a pretty ring, but I wouldn't do it for an e-ring. I think colored stone engagement rings are fine, but you want to wear your engagement ring all the time and there's a lot that hot pink doesn't go with. Most blue sapphires are a lot more 'neutral'. Emeralds also look much more subdued than that and more go-with-everything

a pink diamond (while super expensive) could work, because they're usually a much paler pink, which looks more subdued also. But not, I think ,a pink sapphire.

I can't see an older woman with that ring, either. It's not classic enough. It would look good on a twenty-something or thirty something, I think , but not on older than that.

But in the end it's up to you. Get what you and your fiance like.
