I'm beginning to think of that! What if I make a new setting out of the stones from my band that I don't care for? Do you think it would look nice to put 3 or 4 round stones on each side of center? Does anyone have any pictures of such a setting?

GIA cert is excellent, you can trust whatever it says.

I haven't bought a band yet. We're planning on putting it in a prettier basic mounting w/ claws instead of prongs and then start collecting eternity bands in different colors and shapes to stack w/ it.
I'm sort of 'over' the whole setting idea for me and even my jeweler acknowledged that most women aren't doing the engagement ring + wedding band anymore.

^^^I'm hoping you are referring to the type of setting where the engagement ring is set in a band type setting - intent being to wear only one ring as both wedding band and engagement together.
I can't imagine that a wedding band (and what it signifies) would ever be passe.

I'm confused.....:confused1:

Funny thing happened..... I went to a well-known jeweler with e-ring and eternity band to discuss resets. They said it is beautiful and classic and timeless and I should leave it alone. They didn't feel it was worth changing or designing a new setting. He also felt to trade-in for upgrade is only worth it if I wanted to add at least $10,000 more and go to a 2.0 carat. He felt anything less than that wouldn't be noticable. I have a 1.25 round now.

I didn't say wedding bands are passe!:confused1: I didn't say anything at all about wedding bands or anything else being passe.

I said that *I'm over settings in general for me* -as of the last few years at *my* particular jewelers they're selling less and less of them and women are using their setting as the 'wedding band'.
I got married 10 years ago and did that, it's not a new idea.

cgsprings, what are you confused about?

^^^ I'm too confused to tell you what I'm confused about (LOL).....I THINK you are saying that your engagement ring is in such a style that it looks like it could be a wedding band. In other words, it looks like a band and not like a solitaire stone on a thin band and that the band style is now a new trend.....Did I get it?????

hmmm . . . no, actually my current ring is just a thin basic tiffany's setting = thin band w/ prongs.
My original e-ring had a thicker band w/ baguettes and was basically used as my wedding band, although people still asked me when I was getting married! LOL!

I am still confused:rolleyes: what are they selling less and less of? A traditional ER ring ( i.e.solitaire or solitaire with baguettes, plain band is
recognized as an engagment ring.) You wrote: I'm sort of 'over' the whole setting idea for me and even my jeweler acknowledged that most women aren't doing the engagement ring + wedding band anymore.
Do you mean what many women who had their engagement stone set in the type of band that combined the look of a solitaire stone set with accenting diamonds (ie. your original ring?) is no longer popular?
i used the word "passe" because i was confused as to what you were trying to say:shrugs: NBD:smile1:

They're selling less of the traditional stacked wedding bands next to the wedding rings. The matchy matchy sets.

separately for me, I was saying that I grew tired of having a setting. I am hoping to actually get some fun bands to stack and interchange w/ my soliatire.

That was what I thought you meant.
There are some really pretty ones - love collecting them!
Have fun choosing your fav's.

My 1.25 stone is set in a classic "Tiffany" style with one baguette on each side. It is a little dainty. I'm debating on saving for an upgrade or resetting my original. I definitely want more "bling". How do you think a round 1.25 in setting I described looks next to eternity band worn on same finger made up of all round stones. I'm thinking the side baguettes don't compliment the eternity band. I really want to "love" my ring the way many of you on this forum do!
