Not at all. It is often called gemscaM. I would want a legit grading report, GIA, AGS or EGLUSA. That Gemscan is not really a grading thing. It's like a weirdass appraisal thing, and one that is not entirely accurate. At least with a true grading report you know more what you're getting. I hope they have an ASET there, because that would be a great way to see the faceting and how it returns light. Not a lot do, but it's a good thing for them to invest in.

I was just at the endodontist, I tried to reply on my phone and lost my whole post. So I posted a one liner and then just waited til I got home.

Yeah, I'm definitely wary of gemscan and will stick with looking for GIA diamonds. My BF got an answer from Brilliant Earth on the ASET images and was told neither GIA or Brilliant Earth uses them to grade light return and brilliance. Bit disappointing.

If they're not going to invest in that, and it's important to get a great diamond, I would look elsewhere. IF you want to continue with them, I'd want about a million photos of that thing in various orientations and lighting environments.

GIA does not use ASET, AGS does. AGS is truly the only lab that accurately and actually grades cut. The GIA recently started to and their criterion is really ...lame. They will judge a serious dog as excellent with no real reasoning behind it.

However, Brilliant Earth if you are reading this: it would be VERY SMART for business if you would invest in the ASET, if not also including the IdealScope as well. There are a lot of very well educated buyers online these days, and without those you are less likely to get one of those to buy from you, when for the same price they can go to a site like Goodoldgold.com and get that and more done before the diamond is ever posted on their site at no extra cost.

Also if there's a GIA report number on that stone, you can ask someone like GOG to see if it's virtual or if Brilliant Earth owns that. If it's virtual GOG or anyone can actually get that. GOG will just check it out when they get it and run their tests for you.

Just wanted to post an update... after a lot of back and forth, looking at photos, etc, we decided to go with Brilliant Earth and I picked the 1.53 VS1 G Cushion. I received my ring on Sunday. It's gorgeous! I am very happy with the diamond, wasn't able to capture the sparkle with my phone camera, but still snapped a pic to share. Unfortunately the diamond was mounted in the setting the opposite way we asked, so it will have to go back and be reset. Ah! I wanted the diamond to sit North - South, but it was placed with the length running along the band, East - West. It still looks beautiful that way, but I can't help wanting it adjusted, haha! It is a very subtle 1.10 ratio, but still - I can see it!

Thanks to all who chimed in with advice and tips! Especially lilmountaingirl!

I've heard good things about Brilliant Earth, from a friend who bought a pendant there, but never used them personally. I've heard good thI've used James Allen to good effect. This is similar to what you're looking for, right?

Most big reputable jewelers today have conflict-free diamonds. Most of the big name places (online and brick-and-mortar) use conflict free. You can easily find out if they are conflict free or not too. Tiffany's is conflict-free too.

I am torn between buying a half eternity or a full eternity band. I like the look of full eternity bands more. But I heard they are a PITA next to impossible to resize, and I am in a diet now, slowly but surely loosing weight.

So I am afraid the ring would be too loose after I loose weight. *sigh*

Did anyone ever had to resize a full eternity band? I will buy mine (full or half) from tiffany and co. will be my first tiffany piece, so I dont know if they resize their full eternity bands. anyone knows?

any advice would be helpful, thanks!

ps: im just posting in this thread because I cant make my own as of yet

Tiffany can only resize half eternity bands. But they can put beads on the inside of the full eternity band to size down. Some find it uncomfortable, but many tpfer's here have them and no complaints. Tiffany does not do banding to full eternity bands either, they do beads and can add a butterfly.

Thank you so much for the reply! you have any picture of a ring with those beads and a butterfly? now im curious as to how they look!

and i would love love love if it can be full eternity, but am afraid that maybe in the end will be half sternity because of the praticity to resize it

The smallest you can go with a Tiffany full eternity is size 4. They were able to resize my half eternity to size 3 but it's still too big :crybaby:
