To me the bottom cushion is the best imo. The top cushion has an extremely thick girdle which is considered fair/poor in a cushion. I personally would take it out of the running. I think the radiant is very pretty and has "good" stats but you might be able to do better. I would want a medium or thin to thick girdle and better than "good" symmetry and the ratio to be between 1 to 1:25, but it is 1:26 so barely outside that range. The bottom Cushion has the best stats. The only issue I have with it is the girdle could be better. It has an excellent ratio and table % but it is a little deep. Although all cushions are deep. I would definitely choose the third of the three choices.

Does this Cushion sound better? Brilliant Earth also has this one and I'm wondering if it would be worth it to inquire about pictures and ASET for this one? Thanks!!

I am going to say that I'd be curious what Birks would charge for a VVS2-VS2 cushion, because IF is so overkill, especially when on a budget.

I decided to inquire with a Birks owned US store, called Mayors that also sells their Amorique collection on the price range for a 1.10-1.24 VS2-VS1 G+ and was told that would run me in the range of 23k-35k. Still not happening.

I was wondering the same thing.

23k-35k for a 1.10-1.24 VS2-VS1 G+ is still out our budget. I don't really want my ring to be more than 15k, but there is a little wiggle room on that.

Wouldn't hurt to ask. That's a more squareish one if that's ok with you.

This is the best of the cushions. But the depth % is bordering on fair/poor. The other stats are very good / excellent. But diamonds are so subjective! The info I have is just based on what I've learned lately about diamonds through my jeweler, etc. I only wish I could be a diamond expert and play with them all day! LOL. An excellent or very good cushion should fall within the following stat ranges:

Depth % of 58 to 67.0
Table % of 53 to 65
L to W ratio of 1 to 1.25
Girdle medium or thin to thick

I couldn't figure out how to look through the Birks inventory but if you can find one within those stat ranges you'll have a very good to excellent cushion.

Thank you, that's very helpful. I spoke at length to the sales associate at Birks and I've been reading online about 4c's etc, but there is just so much info to absorb! Unfortunately Birks inventory is not searchable online. I've gotten all these from Brilliant Earth so far, but I'm going to start branching out and looking at the sites rec'd in this thread. :smile1:

LOL that's why I couldn't find any. I should've checked Brilliant Earth. Can you search theirs online? If not, you can ask what they have in those ranges. Cushions are hard. But soooo beautiful!

Yes, I've been searching Brilliant Earth myself for Cushions. I'm pretty set on a Cushion and am looking for 1.20-1.60 VS2/VS1 G+. Those seemed to be the sweet stats for me when I was looking IRL. Hoping to get more bang for our buck by buying online, but I'm thinking we need to really continue to educate ourselves more about all the other specs involved too.

They have a 1.51 E, VS2 with perfect stats for $12,910. But it says it has a gemscan cert and I don't know what that is.

Yeah, I noticed they have a few diamonds with gemscan. I was only looking at GIA certs cause that's what I've heard of, but maybe I should research gemscan. Hmm.

Yeah I have no idea what that means but that is by far the best one in your range, and the only one with stats in the very good / excellent range. I would try other vendors or research what gemscan is. Maybe it's something they do in house?
