Empreinte Leather Melie

Ah I went to my boutique today and just fell in love with this bag. I too am concerned about the corner wear and the glazing on the handle. I just sold my Bastille on consignment because to fix all the glazing and replace the straps was going to run me $900! I'm debating between this and the spontini. But I also kind of like the Montaigne. I'm not really a shoulder person, I like to carry my bags on my forearm. Not sure which is more practical. I also only use them on the weekends so I'm sure I have a little less to worry about but still any amount of immediate wear will annoy me considering the price tag.

I don't have the Melie but do have an Artsy in Empreinte leather, so I can comment on the material. I would be aware that edge wear and "softening" of the monogram are inevitable with Empreinte. The Melie is going to rub against your body during use in a different way than, say, the Emp Speedy. Over time, that can affect the definition of the monogram. The good news: if you have the black Melie, you can use black shoe polish for touch ups. Works like a charm!

So I was just wondering ...I have had issues with the empriente leather corners fading/peeling...wasn't sure if this was normal.

Then I am noticing just now that some of the blue bled onto the red glazing like on the straps...I know shame on me I should've noticed this much sooner right. You just get high on the bag and use it for a couple months or so then you decide to get a fall collection. Now that I am forced to sell do I notice these blemishes and research whether it's known issues/defects or not. I checked back at my receipt and had since March 2017 but i have date code on it. DU0167

What are y'alls thoughts on whether I can get another one, replacement, exchange or anything?? Any thoughts or input would be great!!!

Has anyone bought this bag yet? Do you like it? Are you worried at all about the corners rubbing off? The edges or corners remind me of the Coach legacy hobos from a few years ago and as I remember they had a lot of color rubbing off the corner issues. The base of this bag seems to have a similar shape which is prompting my question. I tried this bag on at the local store yesterday and it is gorgeous - super lightweight and super easy to carry. It is a hobo with the option to go crossbody, all gorgeous leather, seems like a no brainer to get it right?
I also tried on the speedy 25 and with nothing in it, it seemed a tad heavier than the hobo. I'm okay with the bag relaxing so not worried about that. I also thought the Empreinte Speedy would check all boxes - iconic style in gorgeous leather than can be worn crossbody - can't get any more perfect than that.
The Melie is really more "me" than the speedy is - the corners are what I'm worried about. Any words of wisdom from someone who has been there, done that? Thanks![/QUOTE]

Update. I complained to the Houston location...he said corners is normal "wear and tear"...don't they all?! Well I said I wasn't aware that would happen and after further research it shouldn't. So I've said my two cents .they are sending off for furber evaluation...what do y'all think will happen?

I had the noir and it started to have minor wear on the corners pretty quickly. However, it also had some pretty bad cracking on the glazing on the handle and I took it in for repair. They said they could not repair and gave me store credit. That was the second empreinte bag I have had glazing issues with (my luminuese had hideous cracking - it was too bad because it was the perfect bag otherwise).

I could tell that the corners were going to have wear problems, I think I would have been ok with just dabbing on some shoe gel/polish every so often, but combined with the cracking handle, I was pretty happy they gave me a store credit.

I attached some pictures of the weird glazing thing. Then the wear on the corners.

Who said that they couldn't repair the bag you had? Was it your local LV or where they send it in?

My local LV said it's "normal wear and tear and not considered a defective"...told him nicely that's BS when I spent almost $3000 for it ..he said he was sending it in for further assessment. Hoping they can replace it or just give me credit. I'm afraid it's going to keep happening.

The corner wear is a little worse than mine was, but I had only had the bag about six months. That glazing is weird, I wonder if it is some kind of staining from the hardware?

I don’t have an LV In my state, but I am in Scottsdale a lot so I took it into the store there. I didn’t ask about the corner wear because I figured that they would just say wear and tear and it wasn’t that bad (yet), but there were large cracks in the glazing on the top handle that I went to inquire about. (I posted some pics in the Melie forum at the time, I would repost, but I no longer have them on my phone, but they are still there for reference.) I just asked them to send it for repair, so they said they would send it off. Since it was so new, they had told me they doubted I would be charged for any repairs.

It wasn’t until they had sent it to the service center that they called and told me that it could not be repaired. If I am honest, I was pretty sure that is what they would say since I had the same problem previously with another bag. I find that the sales associates generally don’t know what the service center will say (at least in my experience), so if you were able to get them to send it off to a service center, you might have a positive outcome.
