trust me, 3 will 'shrink' and not appear so big anymore! LOL! My 3.67 looks smaller today than it did when we bought it! :s

I bolded another section, we're doing this and I think it is a really fun option. Keeps us gals from growing bored :p

Swanky your ring is HUGE. I mean can I emphasize how big that rock looks?! that would be my dream to own something like that as an upgrade

lucida doesn't have as much metal as most people think. here are my lucida engagement ring and band. happy shopping and i know it must be tough to choose the one you want b'c there are so many beautiful styles. good luck:heart:

CAt: how big is your center stone? That looks HUGE in the Lucida. It seems to me to have the Lucida work, I would need a huge center stone.

Just beautiful.
Swankie: you are inspiring me to maybe get the Tiffany six prong.

Geez...so hard! We are going back one more time on Saturday and I have to decide. BF is ready to buy and surprise me!:yahoo:An I am ready to accept!

I too was not a young bride ... married at 35, just a few months shy of 36. We also looked at the Lucida and while I adored it and we almost purchased it, we went with a "no name brand" princess cut ring instead (2.11 carats) for 1/3 the price at a jewelry wholesaler.

But if you did go for the Lucida, I love the cut, and I don't necessarily think it's just for a "young" bride. It's timeless.

I have a three stone ring that totals just shy of 4 carats. It is large enough that it gets noticed, but not too large. At one point I did want a band to wear along with it, but I have never found one that seems to work with it and I have tried very hard. I thought it was me, but a dear friend of mine has a three stone setting and she felt the same way.

A three stone is lovely because it is classic and never goes out of style. It can also stand alone if you only want one ring vs an engagement and wedding together. It was a wonderful choice my hubby made.

Good Luck and enjoy this time.

We went back again to look and we decided, and I will post the pics as soon as BF emails them to me.I am NOT doing the lucida, but a different setting with a couple ideal cut diamonds on the side. It is quite beautiful As for the center stone, I decided to leave that up to him. We looked at a radiant or a fabulous oval . I want to leave some element of surprise... I just cannot wait to start our lives together. What an amazing journey.
Thanks for all the input.

here is the latest. I have abandoned the Lucida setting... what are your thoughts on this? I tried an oval 2ct stone which I LOVE and a smaller radiant which is more price friendly. It is so easy to get caught up ion the bling and sparkle... I need to keep my head on straight and not get all caught in the excitement. I don't want FI to be in debt, but at almost 37, I really dreamed of a 2 CT, but I dream of a great marriage much more.

Anyhow, gals, what are your thoughts on the setting? Is it too big? I wonder if I will tire of it? I want to love it forever. I need honest opinions.

sorry... I really need a manicure and the diamond is balancing on the setting. I will put more photos in the next post. I reached my max here.

seriously, your thoughts. I am a teacher and a yoga instructor. I am also an avid cyclist ( biking ). I am sporty, but when I am out of my sweats, I am frilly and girly. I need something to work in both my worlds. But I won't be wearing the ring biking or working out.

Julie

I prefer an oval over a radiant *personally*
I don't love the setting, but right now I am preferring more feminine/more delicate settings. The stone would actualy look larger on a smaller band.

And finally. . . are you sure you want to go w/ Jared?
Are they the ones w/ a 'flawless' oval? Is it IGI certified?
IGI is NOT reputable at all. They'll tell you otherwise because they want your $, but IGI is the least reputable of the 4-5 we've all heard of.
If they say the stone is a 2.03 D flawless, which I assume is an IF?
Then it's VERY likely that's it's truly an F or G color and not a perfect cut and could even be a VS2 or SI1.
I beg you to visit pricescope and serach for jared there and see some testimonials.

I have personal experience w/ them. . . I don't want to offend anyone, feel free to PM me.

Yea I wouldn't recommend Jared either.

That said...

I like the way the oval looks with that diamond band, Id get that with another diamond band on the top. I don't particularly care for radiants that much. I can't really pinpoint why.
