No way to know without seeing it. The crystal(s) may or may not be clear. You guys can call BN and see if they can bring it in or if they have it already to ask them about it's plot in person, ask them if the stone has any visible inclusions without a loupe.

There will obviously be better out there, but it's a nice choice.

Thanks Ame. We called BN and they said that all VS and above will be eye clean and that eye-clean means that inclusions are not visible when looking at the diamond from the crown up position from a distance of 6 inches or greater.

I've asked him to physically look at it from all sides too to check if eye clean and they can do that but not until tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Anything else you think we should ask?

Tks!!

All vs and above should be eye clean but that's not always the case. The GIA isnt who came up with eye clean. and what falls into each grade sometimes boggles my mind!

Good that he explained that its 6" and face up by his definition. I look forward to the reply with the rest. Just FYI but none are likely to be face down unless they're IF or FL bec face down diamonds are essentially see thru!

But you won't see it that way set so no sweat there. :)

If they have it in their hands I'd ask for pics of it face up and 3/4 view from top. And if the crystal is clear or black. Black could still reflect and look dark inside.

So I think he's going for it! BN confirmed that the diamond is eye-clean (as they defined earlier) from the top and side views. There is a cloud which is visible from the bottom, but they said this should not be a concern, as once the diamond is set into a ring, this will not be visible. Apparently this diamond also qualifies/falls under their "signature collection"...i suppose their "better" collection of stones.

He's been looking at a few diamonds and every time he gets close or really likes a diamond, it disappears/sells, so he's sticking to this one (we had it on 48 hour hold) and it's coming up, so he's just going to bite the bullet and purchase it!

Hopefully it's great irl! Thanks very much Ame, your help has been priceless =)
