Thanks Ame! I think the diamond itself would be limited to a budget of $10k (so that all in could be kept around max budget of $11k). That's the goal!

The options you chose look good but are unfortunately above budget =(
Seems that in order to get a G VS1 under 10k, table size is larger...perhaps more options will come up over the next couple weeks (aiming to order in early May)..

Oh I see now - strong blue fluor! Hmm..if BN confirms it's not milky looking, we're good? tks!! otherwise, maybe the 1.15 option you posted would be better for him...

Thanks for your help!

yea if they can confirm it's not milky, it should be a great choice. A Strong shouldn't be milky though, when properly graded.

But it's saying not available for purchase---did you guys buy it?

May I ask why white gold over plat? Is that cost related or does she really want white gold?

No we didn't buy it, perhaps another is interested! ..also I believe she's not comfortable with fluor.
No idea, he asked her a few times and she has a pref for white gold...so he wasn't going to dispute further!

I suppose it's a bit early anyways, hopefully new suitable options appear!!

I think she and I need to have a chat about fluor. I'd like to know her reasoning. ;) Because she really is missing out. It's not going to negatively affect the stone, and that can cut any warmth in a G-H she's worried about, giving her a bigger range of stones to go through. Show her pics of mine if she has any concerns.

lol, I'm sure you could convince her and him! I think a picture of your diamond could convince anyone - so gorgeous!!! I think it's just a perception thing on the fluor, unfortunately. We'll see, perhaps they will go that route when they see that it opens up more options!

Well thanks! I hope they come around. Mine is an H with Med-Strong blue. In a well cut stone...it's going to look white as hell face up. *IF* there's detectable warmth, it will only be seen from the side in some lighting, and the setting will block most of the view of it anyway.

There's time, in a week or so we'll check the supply again.

I so wish they were willing to buy from a US seller...man they'd have a whole new world, pics of the stones, etc. available to them.

I know, us Canadians have such limited options compared to the US when it comes to online purchasing. Its just not feasible with the extra 20% duties unless the prices are 20% cheaper...which I don't believe is the case...plus it gets messy with returns too (dealing with return of duties/customs), expensive shipping etc especially with such a big ticket item. Just not worth the stress, despite the many more options :(

NOT that I am really advocating this... but a lot of people if they live near the border have it shipped to them at a hotel in the US where they stay for a couple of days, and then they do the proposal or whatever, then wear it across the border. I don't know how that works and Im sure it's not exactly legal, but it does help them with imports. But that way if there's a sizing issue, or whatever, they are still in the US and can ship it back from the US and come back over as needed.

It does suck that there's such a nailing on taxes.

But I will help you find a weener on BN for them and hopefully all will go perfectly smoothly :)

Thanks Ame, honestly, such a HUGE help!! I feel such piece of mind running the figures by you and getting an okay or not lol =)

We did consider this (since we'll be in the US for vacation soon), however, it still gets tricky and BN option is much less stressful in an already stressful (but exciting of course) time!

There is a lot of timing required. If something happens and the ring isn't right, or the size isn't right or whatever...that gets you into rescheduling. But it's sometihng a lot of folks on PS have done apparently. I'm sure it's hellaciously illegal though.

In a couple weeks or in a week or whenever he's ready (god it's already May next week...) we'll get going again!
