e-ring dilemma

The Tacori design is stunning. The diamond you have is substantial and should sit in the Tacori setting okay. Have you placed your diamond into the setting to see how it looks? You ought to do that and then decide.

Don't go with the seller think you would like, because they only want you to do business w/ them, not Tacori. Plus, is the halo going to look nice with a round (vs. oval)? Depends on your taste. Go with what you love.

I have to add that your choice of diamond cut and clarity is absolutely exceptional!!!

I like the smaller picture with the twisted sides. I know there are less overrall diamonds in the smaller one than the bigger one, but for some reason, the design with the twisted sides actually showcases the diamond more, and makes it "pop."
Congrats and have fun picking your fave!

Ultimately it's just a question of your own personal style. The halo'ed ring is chunky and more of a statement ring. The twisted Tacori ring is delicate and more engagement ring-ish. In my opinion, the halo ring would be a great right hand cocktail ring. The Tacori setting would feature the diamond center stage and the stone would POP a lot more than it would in the halo'ed setting (where it would look sorta buried).

There are other halo options that are much more delicate-looking and might be a better match for your diamond. Have you looked at www.artofplatinum.com? Or Michael B settings?

Thanks for all the sincere replies, guys.

Champaign: You're right. I would have never wanted something else if my jeweller hadn't said something. I'm always second guessing myself too ;)

To be honest, the jeweller hadn't gotten a good look at the stone before he made the comment about making the diamond look bigger. He had made a ring for my future mother-in-law that made her 1 carat look HUGE so maybe he had some preconceived notions about what I wanted.

I don't live in the USA so I'm just glad he can copy the Tacori design for me. He's very popular so it'll be 2 months before I can see the setting. He even said I can change my mind after he prepares the ring so who knows? But I do love the Tacori design. Here's the side view. Thank you all again.

No offense to anyone who has a halo setting, but I see so many of them that I think the Tacori is a better choice just because it is not as popular.

I like the Tacori, sometimes making the diamond appear larger by surrounding it with diamonds takes away from the stone (don't get me wrong, I LOVE halos).

The bottom line is that it is your ring and you'll be wearing it as a symbol of your marriage so you should go with the one you want and feel most comfortable with.

Have fun!

The tacori setting is really beautiful.

The stone on my engagement ring is a touch under one carat and about the same quality as yours. My fiance chose a simple platinum setting and I love it. The stone itself is so beautiful and plenty big even without adornment. I get compliments every day from strangers. With very high quality stones, it is sometimes good to go for a simpler setting The natural beauty of the diamond is what people will notice.
And to be honest, one carat is not exactly chopped liver! KWIM?

i pick the TACORI all the way. i love how it twists and twines like a vine. very unique. i like micro pave halo settings too but since you liked the tacori first initially then i say you should go for that. if not, couldn't you do like a combo of the two? hope it works out!

Thanks for all the sweet comments!
I hope the ring comes out right. He made some changes. He said the shadows because of the lower layer under the ring will diminish the brilliance of the stone so he made it a single layer ring. So I'll only have the crossed outer layer of the Tacori below. Hope it works!

i like the one with the twisted sides... it seems a lot more beautiful. you might want to go with micropave if you choose the other one because bigger diamonds will overpower your stone.
