My journey for an exotic bag started a couple years ago. I spent enough time on my research. I found loads of information on this forum and I am very thankful two ladies Tracey SH and 880 who helped me enormously in this journey.

The bag that appealed to me was on the Duret site. I liked her shape. Also, I discovered on the net ,Duret’s workshop was not far from my hometown. I emailed Mr Duret to make an appointment, as I wanted to see the bag irl. Mr Duret gave me a call. Unfortunately, the workshop had been moved to Paris, but he could make a bag for me.

I had a good feeling that I could trust him and he wouldn’t let me down. So I ordered the bag BLINDLY.

First, he sent me pics of skin colours. I could choose. He works with different skins, as for croc, he uses porosus mostly.

How does the bag look when open? Does the flap rest inside the bag like the Birkin? It’s such a pretty bag! I’m in the hunt for an exotic bag but not sure exactly what I want.

you can contact Mr Duret ( the email address is on his site) and he will design a bag your demand.
I got this bag and a SO Hermes at the same time. I love both bags and they are equal in quality.

These bags are beautiful! Congratulations! I ordered a few items years ago from another atelier in Paris with what seems like a similar style and process, it's a great experience and I would totally recommend it.

@Tasha1, @TraceySH, @Christofle, my Buffalo Dalmatian bag is here. It’s beyond anything I imagined. The photos look silvery grey, but the bag is actually warmer in tone, maybe a cross btwn craie and nata. The stitching and contrast handles, Duret chose are perfect. I’m not a charm person, but even the charm is exquisite. and, the dustbag accompanying it is hand stitched leather and a work of art, in and of itself. All I can say is, if you go/contact Duret; trust his judgment and recommendations — essentially put yourself in his hands — you will be thrilled speechless with the results. It fits easily over my shoulder, but I prefer to carry bags on the crook of my arm. I had my choice of H quality hides and i did specify that I wanted the one with the most patterning, contrast, veining, and texture. My pics cannot do the bag justice

Oh my!

What a stunning piece of art it has turned into. Enjoy it for years to come! This is the first time that I’ve seen a leather dust bag, which is quite a nice touch.

@Tasha1 I think this kind of croc/ alligator bag (along with birkins) is more versatile than my Delvaux Brillants - I had forgotten you ordered this STUNNING beauty! I love exotics but they just need to be more wearable (I think the silhouette matter so much). Are you wearing yours now that you're in the countryside?

YES,YES,YES--- my order was blind, he sent me some pics with each step of making the bag.

We started dining out more, nearly every village around has a fancy restaurant, I sometimes wear the bag if I go to Zurich or we have a day trip. The bag is easy to match with both elegant and casual outfits. But she is eye catching

Well OF COURSE SHE IS! But also versatile too. I hate to ask the price, but I am sure it's more reasonable than Hermes or even Delvaux?

Thank you so much! I think we contacted Duret in May via signal. But, it took quite a bit of time for him to get three or five Buffalo Dalmatian hides that he was happy with for me to choose. (I told him I wanted the most high contrast, veiny ones). originally we thought we’d do charcoal gray Dalmatian (he can do custom dye) but he strongly recommended this. And, I found that it’s really best to go with his recommendation; he has very strong opinions and aesthetic. If he does not think he can do what you would like, he will tell you up front beforehand. He would send weekly videos of the stitching, cutting, creation. really my pics do NOT do the bag justice at all. I think it was around 9300 USD, and I believe this is his first request for a bag of Buffalo Dalmatian. The bag was finished in late August/early September, but he wanted to take professional pics after his vacation (he sent me pics from mykonos); and then I was away in Italy until this month, so we delayed shipping until now. I found that it’s best to estimate plenty of time. I will order perhaps an ostrich next, but in person, in his Paris atelier
Hugs

I have not personally commissioned any hermes Special orders myself, bu the duret bag is my most finely crafted bag

+ 1 000 000
it took him a bit longer to make my bag, because he didn't like the flap. He had to redesign it. I placed my order in November and got the bag in March. I was skiing for 2 weeks and asked him not to ship the bag.

he wanted to take professional pics after his vacation

in my case too, what cost a week delay
