My journey for an exotic bag started a couple years ago. I spent enough time on my research. I found loads of information on this forum and I am very thankful two ladies Tracey SH and 880 who helped me enormously in this journey.

The bag that appealed to me was on the Duret site. I liked her shape. Also, I discovered on the net ,Duret’s workshop was not far from my hometown. I emailed Mr Duret to make an appointment, as I wanted to see the bag irl. Mr Duret gave me a call. Unfortunately, the workshop had been moved to Paris, but he could make a bag for me.

I had a good feeling that I could trust him and he wouldn’t let me down. So I ordered the bag BLINDLY.

First, he sent me pics of skin colours. I could choose. He works with different skins, as for croc, he uses porosus mostly.

OMG! Congratulations! Your bag, the beautiful skins, the gorgeous colors, the design and craft! It’s beautiful and what a wonderful experience! I cannot wait to travel and order one too! DH has worn his custom duret belts nonstop!
hugs

Thank you for sharing your bag journey and these lovely pictures! I just happened to find Duret's website the other day and I like his classic bag designs which are really complemented by a striking colour and texture like yours. Do you know if he uses non-exotic i.e. calf leather as well? The weather where I live doesn't take kindly to exotic leathers...

I think you can send him an email and ask
I know for sure he works with calf skins as he makes gorgeous belts as well.

@swallowtails, @Tasha1, I believe Duret will easily do calf skin. DH contacted Duret to ask if he could make a bag for me in Buffalo Dalmatian. Duret kindly sent three swatches of Buffalo Dalmatian for me to choose from (black/gray; green; and, blue) and assured us that he can also custom color. His colors are exquisite.

His source for the material will send several hides for me to choose from. I’ve spoken to him and he is very nice and enthusiastic about the process!
