I just went over to mulberry.com and saw the teaser ad for the relaunch of the Alexa. It'll be interesting to see what they've done with it, changes, sizes, colors, etc.!
Can anyone who has owned and used the previous Alexas share if the bag (in medium) is heavy? I have a bad back, but I used to adore this bag.
I have the soft buffalo medium, and the leather is pretty light on its own. I guess it would depend on the new leathers they're using for the re-issue. (My small Double Zip tote in silky calf, in comparison, is very heavy on its own even with just a few things inside.)
As @rockdiva said, I think it will depend on what leathers they use. I have a shrunken calf Alexa and it is substantial and somewhat heavy when loaded up. Hopefully, some of the true Alexa experts who have owned it in different leathers will chime in with more info.
I have several Alexas and it really depends on the leather. The shrunken calf is heaviest in my opinion, it’s quite structured too, if you compare it to the soft buffalo for example. The weight depends on the new leathers I guess.

I Just checked out the new Alexa and I have to say I’m disappointed with the leather and the colour selection. I still have my original Alexa, which is much nicer than the new models on offer.

I agree, the leather looks lumpy and stiff. I have to be honest, I was never going to be in the market for this as I‘ve never been a fan of the Alexa. But the appeal of the original bag was in its casual slouchiness and the lovely buffalo leather. Missed opportunity IMO.
I have order Alexa in soft Buffalo and I love it! IMO the slouchiness and casual look is what Alexa is all about! I love how the leather is unique in every bag and how natural and soft the leather is. I think these new versions look more of mass production pieces than quality craftsmanship items. Too bad.
Love the colour
More varied leather selections would have been nice, but I'm okay with bovine grain leather. In my experience the leather is hardy. My first choice would have been Buffalo calf though. The leather looks so soft and pliable in vintage alexas. And it patinas beautifully from the pictures that I have seen.
Regardless of the leather, I think I will buy one next year. Mini alexa will be at the top of my next year's wish list.
I think the new leather looks quite lush! And omg, a metallic mushroom Alexa! It’s already sold out. I also love the black hardware on the black OS Alexa.
ETA: I really have so many Alexas that I don’t really need one, but maybe I just have to buy the metallic mushroom! I missed the medium Lily in metallic mushroom some years ago, I only have a heart bag charm in metallic mushroom and I love the colour.
ETA2: I love the fact that most of the Alexas are unlined! I have two Lexies with leather lining (the pumpkin and quilted beige) and imo the canvas linings in especially soft buffalo Alexas were not very luxurious..

OS Alexa was my first designer bag love, but I missed out on it. I have an oak soft buffalo medium Alexa and a pickle green medium Alexa in calf leather.
I am somewhat excited about the return of Alexa, but I am not sure, if I like the new version enough to finally get an oak OS.
I have to agree that the bags look kind of mass produced and I am not sure if I like the leather. I do like the texture of the leather and the fact that the bag is unlined. I could also live with a stiffer leather as I like my calf leather Lexy better than my soft buffalo Lexy.
I do not like that top handle.
But I want to check it out irl definitely.
