I have the dots, but my answer isn't related to that 
For me personally I like the dots better because I am not a fan of the love red--it is too corally to me. I realize the red tote is called love red as well, but it isn't all over the bag, and to me the color is a bit different--a little more red than the bags that are completed made of love red. Your picture above shows what I mean...you can see the red parts are more "red" in the dots bag. Personally I love that Coach made a fun tote like that--it is something different than their typical.
