The bags look pretty. I am picky too about my bags. If I find an imperfection, I make a determination if it was worth purchasing (with 10%-15% dicournt of course) or not worth it even with discount. I only like the DB Florentine bags (I have dome satchel) and of course the retro East/West Collins (I have one with black leather straps). The Florentine bags are excellent quality- the best DB has had in years. So, try those out

I have the small Florentine satchel. I actually had 3 Florentine satchels at one time. I sold 2 because they were 2 big. That is how I ended up back into Dooney. The Dillen II satchel has held up well this week. We had snow and the bag's leather seems to repel the snow.

I have a classic AWL Dooney that's still in beautiful condition and a newer bucket bag. It's a shame to think that their quality could be decreasing. It seems to be a sad turn that a lot of companies are taking anymore though.
