I have 2 bags with the issue. The Dillen II and the crossbody satchel. It is not noticeable unless I flip the handles and look for it. I am thinking of driving to the mall and checking the other bags to see if they have the same issues. I've already returned the Dillen II twice for issues.

interersting. Can I ask what kind of issues are you having with your Dillen II? I have one too, just bought it few months ago so this has me concerned. Btw, love the color of yours, so pretty!

I always check the bag all over before I buy it, but I missed this detail. I had the bag sitting next to me in church and happened to look down and the white stuffing caught my eye. I contemplated returning both bags but I have been using one for a week already and I do love the color. I have received a lot of compliments on them.

I think you should keep them, despite that. If you love your bags, this small thing is easy to overlook if you give it some time. Saw the strawberry at Macy's the other day, and I had to walk over and touch the leather. So beautiful. DB has some of the nicer leathers around, still thick and supple but softer from what I remember.

A lot of brand names are cutting corners now, instead of having this detail, they figure it's mostly hidden out of sight anyway. Takes extra manpower to stitch this part. It's not a good excuse, but definitely something to consider with future purchases.

I am not sure if the hobo version of this has this detail, I'll check it out next time.... I loved it in red. There was a woman at the table, complaining she would only buy it if it had a crossbody strap (it didn't) and I don't fault her either for wanting one.

Some lines of dooney leathers are amazing...some seem down right "cheap". IMO You really have to pick and choose, their florentine bags and alto bags are great and the only bags I would buy from dooney. I would take your bag back/send it in to dooney because even with a line that may not be "as nice" as another in some oppinions, that gap on the handle looks like a defect of some sort. Im sure they will do something for you, they have great CS.

Not to go off topic, but I just found this new company and their prices are thru the roof. Let's see if you can find the faults I've found with their bag. I have a feeling one would get better service from D&B whose been in business for many many many years.

I don't like zippers that extend beyond the actual length of the bag... the stitching on the handles do not look that professional. What did you find?

When I see prices this exorbitant, I have to think it's mainly sold within a specific market (friends of friends of the designer, etc)

out of curiosity, i went to the DB website and noticed a number of their bags have the handles with the "tucked in" finish. This must be a design decision for their current bags. I don't know if it's on every single bag with rolled handles, but I noticed it on one of their florentine bags and a couple of others

The issues I had with my Dillen II were: on the first one the leather around the brass duck plate was frayed. Then the one I exchanged it for had an ink mark on the zipper pull and overall it looked used. The ink mark could've been from when the exchange was done because the SA had a pen in her hand throughout the process.

You may have gotten a bad bag. That can happen with any of the bags. I love my Dooneys better than my Louis Vuittons. I just bought the Louis Vuitton Epi Carnine Speedy about two weeks ago and the DB Smith Florentine in White. Equally quality bags. In my opinion, people associate status with quality. Everyone is wearing a LV because it is an expensive brand like Hermes but will turn their nose up on a DB because of the price. Personally, if I am spending $$$$ on a bag, I don't want to see everyone carrying it. I believe you buy what you like.

Well put my dear...

So I took a quick ride to Macys to check out the Dooney handles. I even took my crossbody in case there was one with better handles to exchange it for. The majority of the bags were like mine. I found one Dillen II in the desert color that had nice tight handles. The rest were varying degrees. I think maybe the stuffing or whatever it is called may be too long in length. I'm thinking of emailing pics to Dooney. I'm keeping my bags. I love the color.

Back in college, I had a drawstring one. It was built solid! The only thing I didn't like was it was open at the top and didn't have any pockets or a zipper. I'm clumsy and I was forever knocking it over and picking stuff up. And I believe the site you were talking about is: http://www.horsekeeping.com/Dooney/DS/Dooney-Bourke-DRAWSTRING.htm In fact, my purse (that I still have) looks just like those. Great quality indeed. :)
Thank you. I bookmarked it.
