I think it might depend on the bag... did your bag come with any paperwork for the hardware?

My briefcase came with a small card showing the manufacturer of the brass locks and hardware as being an Italian manufacturer. The rhodium plating on the brass is very susceptible to wear though...

Thanks for the reply. The bag was bought from a department store in Ireland. I was under the impression that it was brass coated with rhodium. I guess it came as a shock when I saw black marks despite barely using the bag.

I got some wear in the plating from simply opening and closing the bag as the pieces of the lock rubbed against each other. It turned me off dark plated hardware for life.

I have one of the original Sicily’s from 2010 and it’s made of a very soft leather which is not lacquered. If buying vintage just be careful as I find it marks quite easily! I have had to put in a significant amount of effort to maintain it so I would recommend purchasing a newer lacquered version that is tougher and holds its shape better. I also worry about this for the newer Sicily soft.

Classic Miss Sicily is made from Dauphine leather. It is as durable, as soldier’s boots! It would last you for years and years, and years. I had many of them and after several years they still need a wed wipe and look like new. Unlike tender Chanels and especially Bottegas. The one in timeless print, like Majolica on my avatar, would attract looks despite the year of the collection.
Newer Sicilys look not as tough, though

The one you have is not only soft leather, but also soft body. DG used to have it just for couple of years in their portfolio. Later they started using soft nappa leather for stiff body Miss Sicily bags like laser cut (I have one in small size). Both of them are beautiful.

Hello all! I have a Dolce and Gabbana Alta Moda handbag that I purchased from Anna Dello Russo's wardrobe sale in 2018. I want to sell it since even though it is stunning I'll probably never use it (and some other issues with the designers...)
I'm fairly sure it's a "Vanda" and I've seen other Dolce and Gabbana Vandas sell for at least $2000 online, but there isn't much information about them. Does anyone have any insight on these?

Hello! Did you ever find a way to deal with the tarnishing? I have a Sicliy bag and the gold on the hardware is starting to fade from wear. Does anyone know anyone to deal with this?
