Have you gone to a store to see how much you can fit into each one and if you have a preference on how they might be designed? Maybe one is easier to access than the other (the contents)!

unfortunately I’m not near any shops that sell D&G so can only buy online. I think access wouldn’t be an issue. It’s just more the aesthetic and deciding which look I prefer

Hi,
I need your opinion ladies! I’ve always admired the Sicily bag but was “distracted” by other more popular classic brands. Now I want a top handle, clean line and simple classic bag and the Sicily seems to fit all those. I have no experience with it and it doesn’t seem to be popular or even talked about much. Is there a reason why? Is the quality bad? Is it considered old fashioned perhaps? It’s a shame as I really like it. Do classic colors go on sale? I want to know more about it before I commit! Any tips will be much appreciated!

@verychic555 Hello :wave:
I personally feel like the quality of my Sicily is impeccable! My personal apprehensions for buying the Sicily were the Safiano leather and the leopard print interior, BUT inspite of those two things, I still had to have it... I’ve been wearing mine for a few years now and my only current dislike is that the opening to the inside is a bit narrow. I dislike the top of my hand scraping anything, but I’m willing to put up with that to use my beloved Sicily. This bag is just stunning in many ways and I’m happy to have one! I don’t know about classic colors as mine is Rosa Shocking. I hope this helps :smile:

D&G as a whole is primarily a clothing brand and the accessories aren’t really their focus.

I don’t quite know why the Sicily hasn’t taken off as readily as other brands. However you often hear people knocking Cartier and Bulgari for being jewelry brands and that they should stay in their lane.

From personal experience, their leather items are very well made and the hardware (lock) came with its own certificate showing the manufacturer, the fact that it was solid brass and that it was manufactured in Italy.

D&G also tends to take quite a few artistic liberties with their offerings, which usually leads to them being heavily discounted at the end of the season. So resale value isn’t the best, which again might make people avoid the brand.

With regards to the Sicily specifically, I’m always impressed with their construction and attention to detail.

The quality of Miss Sicily is still very high and it still looks classy, but In a last couple of years DG is shifting their focus towards fancier Welcome and more classical Amore & Devotion. I think they want to have a Chanel-fighter in classics and Gucci-fighter in fancies.
As for me there’s still no alternative to everlasting Sicily. My Sicilies last for years and years and still look same new and fresh.

By the way for me Sicily in Majolica (on my avatar picture) was always one of the most beautiful DG bags. Now their new Welcome bag in majolica is sooo amazing! But maybe too fancy for every day use
