Those gigantic bags would not be at all useful to me. Well, maybe they could be used as an airplane carry-on or weekend car trip but I might throw my shoulder out lifting it fully loaded. I'd guess they are more about grabbing attention and showing more extreme examples on the runway than what will actually be produced.

I also find the Balenciaga designers comment about being "inspired" by the homeless to be pretty obnoxious. Maybe he should take one of his $2,000 giant bags and try living on the street with it.

I also find it an obnoxious thing to say. Of course, the homeless carry big bags. They are literally carrying their entire life around with them. They have no choice. If they own it, they have to carry it with them somehow or the item will be lost/stolen/etc. Most homeless require large bags for blankets, clothes, etc. They are carrying them out of necessity, not out of a desire to lug a huge bag around with them. Most people would never chose to lug huge bags like that around with them. That comment is just trivializing the plight of the homeless.

A couple of the bags don't look that big to me?... They look normal for business day to day bags (like the Gucci). The rest look really big but even back when bigger bags were in I'm more of a mid size or smaller bag girl. My biggest purse is my LV Noe. Can't see myself ever needing to carry anything larger for day to day. For temporary larger travel bags I use a back pack or packable non designer totes.

The last time giant bags were a thing (10-15 yrs ago) I was in college. I carried them everywhere without a care. It turns out they really messed up my shoulder and I have spent the past several years trying to fix it. I'm going to stay away from the giant bag trend this time around. I just hope brands continue to sell reasonable sized bags (mini - medium...those micros were never reasonable either IMO).

i used to love big bags, the biggest bag i go for was a balenciaga weekender that i wore daily but i of course don't fill it up and finding stuff inside the bag is a nuisance
and i tend to carry more and the bag will get heavy
then i stop using big bags because my shoulder hurts. i am very mobile when working, i could walk for hours and hours and only stop for lunch on my busy days and i have to carry my bag along because i don't work at the office
so after a while i only carry medium sized bags
often i would carry 2 bags. smaller one for my essentials and bigger one for work related stuff and clothing stuff like shawl and lightweight jacket
