Does Rolex hold its value more than J12?

If you are looking for a watch purely for the purpuse of selling it later on then Rolex will most likely fetch a higher resale price but if resale isn't your main consideration, choose the watch that you LOVE the most!

It's really hard to say. Rolex has over a century of existence while Chanel watches barely 20 years. The range of Rolex is also much broader with intensive marketing in sports and culture with very visible ambassadors. Probably why the overall perception is that Rolex will better past the test of time. The official retailers of Chanel are very restricted which makes it more secluded.
I would do as suggested earlier and go with the watch you truly love - both are fine choices. As for my choice, I prefer the style of Rolex over Chanel.

J12 i think is a "watch of the moment" I am about to buy a rolex i wanted a J12 but I think they are a bit of a statment watch i seem to see alot of people wearing the J12.

Definitely Rolex. Mine is a very old one, passed down from grandfather to father to me. Still works beautifully and is worth way more now than when it was first bought.

j12 is just a fashion watch 'i don't think it will hold value.

As much as i love the J12 (i own the 38mm one ), don't think it'll hold value like the Rolex...
