Does Rolex hold its value more than J12?

I do love the Rolex look and have one on order. But I'm totally into watches now. I use to be into LVs but got tired of them. I like to dream for which my second nice watch should be since I'm getting the midisize jubilee with no diamonds in stainless. I wonder is it best to have something different but I never tried on the J12 and don't know the price range. Even if I love it, I don't know if I can justify another watch. Perhaps if it held value, it would make it a little easier.

Definitely go to a few jewelers and try different sizes, shapes and brands. If you are really into watches, you know that Rolex is the classic choice for many, but it's not the only good watch out there. Try on the J12! Sometimes when you see a watch on your arm, it has a completely different look and feel than pictures. Sometimes its too heavy or diggs into your hand. And sometimes you fall in love!

I've found that after spending a few months shopping for my first major watch, the more comfortable I felt with the purchase.

Good luck!

The J12 is a nice watch but I think with regards to worth - I think Rolex is better. It has been around for a lot longer than the J12 and it is still considered a classic watch.

I don't have a J12 and can not offer any opinion as to it's quality (which I'm sure is excellent for the $$), but I do have a Rolex & a Cartier. In my experience with these watches and knowing a couple of high end jewelers who sell new & used pieces, I would have to say Rolex hands down for holding it's value long term. There is a huge market for estate & used Rolex pieces. The depreciation is very minimial. You could easily trade in your Rolex at some shops and put the money toward a new one, or sell it out right rather quickly.

I don't think many people associate a quality timepiece with the brand "Chanel". They think handbags & fashion. That would be like Rolex coming out with a line of handbags....but, who knows, I guess anything is possible :p

i completely agree.. every brand has its own signature piece. chanel with its tweet coat and handbag, CL for its shoes. if i have to choose a rolex or a j12, i would go with rolex for sure since it's so famous for watch making.

but i still love the j12 with diamond markers...sigh..

J12 are just fashion watches... they are popular now so most ppl wear them more, but at the end of the day, Rolex will hold iit s value better. My dad's rolexes area lready 30-40 yrs and its still a classic...
