They do not give me Confidence at all....but...
They do make me feel Happy and they do put a big SMILE on my face:-) it is because all my dream bag was purchased with my hard earned money that remind me when I carry them how I work so hard and every single of that extra time that I spent at work is worth it. Hope this help:-)

More confidence, as in a sense of boldness & assurance = yes, sometimes

Each bag has positive memories, which feel good & perhaps shine through my face/actions.

I can have them repaired about worldwide, if needed.

They may serve as a costume of sorts, when impressions must be made--much as bold, red lipstick.

I wouldn't own them, if they did nothing to help me enjoy life more.

More self-confidence, as in an increased trust in my own judgment, decisions, worth, feelings, abilities, etc. = no

This comes from within, growing through experiences & with time.

It cannot be bought, imo.

It's earned, often with many challenges & some mistakes--part of being human & engaged with this world.

Hope this answers helpfully.

Great post, remainsilly, I could not have written it better!👍👍👍👍

Yes, carrying my handbags gives me confidence!

Confidence in the sense that I am proud of myself for able to save up and work hard just to afford it. Almost like a accomplishment!

No, carrying an expensive bag does not boost my confidence. In fact, I find that if I carry/wear too many expensive at once, I start to feel somewhat insecure (I know, that's kind of bad). But I start to feel like I am a walking target for pickpocketers, thieves. But when I wear one or 2 nice designer pieces, I feel comfortable. Regardless, my emotional confidence levels stays the same (which has nothing to do with designer items at all- it's so much deeper than that!). Maybe as far as fashion confidence, I do admit that I personally feel that wearing one or 2 designer pieces boosts my usual, otherwise simpler outfits. Of course, only my 2 cents. I believe that everyone should do what they feel good with.

+1 !

Of the times when I have dressed up to the nines with more than one or two "fancy" things I have felt silly or foolish. Just one or two choice pieces is enjoyable for me to wear and the things I have are generally very practical and versatile, so it is appropriate to use them most of the time so I am usually at a "standard" level of confidence if that makes sense...

It gives me pleasure to use them with everything fitting properly and wearing comfortably. They are also kind of part of "me" because for example my watch was a sentimental christmas gift from my bf, my bag was for such and such etc. So I feel like "me" when I wear my things, it's not to show off or boost my confidence at all.

+1!! I mean I'm only 21 and still in college, so my bags are presents from my parents. I also have a Love bracelet I never take off, so I sometimes keep my outfits on the simpler side of things because I don't like to come off "spoiled" or like a target for thieves! I really love all my bags, but carrying them doesn't give me confidence. I think that mainly comes from inner peace and loving yourself!

I think if anything, bags can give "fashion confidence". I definitely think that a nice bag (good design, apparent quality and craftsmanship, etc) can elevate an otherwise simple or boring outfit- and i feel that my outfit just looks nicer and more complete. On the other hand, bags cannot boost personal confidence...

I agree with this :)

Carrying a nicely made (not ratty) bag gives me confidence. Carrying a premier designer bag would probably take away some confidence because I think it would attract unwanted attention (on me, in my world as it is today). I really don't want people to focus on my purse. I just want them to view me in a positive way, and having a clean, mildly-interesting-but-not-too-attention-grabbing overall style is what works for me.

Yes it does, because they are an expression of my business success. I paid for them with my own money and that makes me proud! Also, a nice handbag upgrades EVERY outfit! So if I have days where I don't want to put much thought into my outfit, I will sill look good in jeans, flip flops, a t-shirt and my Chanel Jumbo!

We do live in a materialistic world (that is just a fact and does not mean that I like it) and status symbols make some situations easier. I do have two university degrees and a great job, but when I am walking into a fancy restaurant or store, people do not know that. As shallow as it sounds, you will get better service etc when carrying an expensive handbag.

This is sad, but true. I was once in line at the Chanel boutique in Florence and they wouldn't let me in because one of my friends was wearing jeans and sneakers (Isabel Marant, but still sneakers).

What you said is all true.. We don't walk around with neon signs that say "I have a college degree, masters degree, PhD etc" so handbags are a way to portray success.
