Does black fit everything?

I'm considering purchase a black leather messenger bag. Most of the time I use brown shoes and belt. Can a black bag be used with "everything", or is it best with black bag/black shoes, brown bag/brown shoes? What's your opinion?

I do sometimes wear black with navy, I know it's a thing but I actually always feel like I clash. How about grey? I think grey goes with almost anything but brown. Or how about gold? I love gold and navy.

I was going to suggest grey as a go-with-everything colour but after reading that you mainly wear brown shoes I would say to go for a brown bag too- especially if your clothes are mostly navy.

I would get black because at the end of the day, it will always look decent.
If you went with brown to be matchy, you would still need to find a brown that goes with your brown shoes. Dark mahogany won't go with tan shoes (extreme but you get it).

I don't have much black in my closet. I prefer to use grey as my neutral. Black is a little harsh for me. However, unlike others, I love the mix of navy and black. Very cool and modern.

I'm also not one to match my bags and shoes so my comment should probably be taken with a grain of salt.

For me, personally, black goes with nothing. I never wear black, not even to funerals. Tan/Cognac and Navy are my go-tos if I want something to go with everything.

I find black can be a little heavy sometimes color-wise. I suggest looking at a metallic either silver or gold that will go with any color. Black does look good with navy or brown and it is very much in style right now.

Sounded like a guy question, so I asked one.
He decided that black goes with most stuff, but has tones. So not all black tones look good with all brown tones. And to choose carefully.
There was another comment, about just dressing as Sparky the clown everyday, so any color would match outfit--but, then I threw something hard.

I hope you don't mean my last comment about "I wouldn't worry about matching". Only reason I said that is because if the OP is wearing Blues with Browns, I wouldn't be concerned about matching a black or brown bag. Neither will look out of place.

(gotta admit, the sparky the clown comment made me "lol" though)
