I clamp it between my knees while washing my handsI know this thread is a bit old... But may I ask how everyone manages to wash their hands when carrying Bs in restrooms? Say on the days that I am alone and do not have someone to help carry the bag outside. Is there perhaps a trick or strap out there that I haven't discovered yet? Thank you very much!
All my handheld bags have reusable, foldable bags inside for groceries and unexpected random purchases eg at the pharmacy, so I use those in some washrooms and when there is unexpected rain/ snow etc.I know this thread is a bit old... I have both shoulder bags and bags with handles you have to carry in your hand, including a Birkin, Garden Party and a Prada Galleria. If you’re not sure if a handle bag is for you, before investing in a Birkin, you may want to try a GP.I LOVE Birkin, but as of yet I can’t bring myself to spend that much on a bag. However, I’m sure I’ll be ready in a year or two. Right now I only carry shoulder bags. I’m wondering if the hand option would end up being a regret for me. I know Kelly has a strap but I don’t care for them, especially because I don’t like top handles with shoulder straps. Plus they look too formal for my lifestyle.
Has anyone gone from being a strictly shoulder bag carrier to hand held in Birkin specifically? How was the adjustmen?
thanks
I always keep a couple paper towels or tissues spare in my bag in case i need to inevitably set it down to wash my hands. That way, i can dispose of the tissue after i used it as a little protective layer between the table sink and my bagI know this thread is a bit old... No I don’t think there is a trickyou just have to find a place for the bag temporarily (which may be very difficult depending on the restroom conditions). I do carry a bag hook, and if there is someplace I can use the hook & my bag isn’t big and heavy (normally not an issue since my Bs are 25s) I use it to hang my bag for a bit (though I’ve not really done this in a restroom).

Thank you all so much! I have been occasionally clamping them in between my knees, but I really like the paper towel idea! I also carry an outer bag as well, but I mainly use it for flights. I also have bag hooks, LOL all kinds of gadgets we carry for this one bag eh?I always keep a couple paper towels or tissues spare in my bag in case i need to inevitably set it down to wash my hands. I think you do that with any bags. True story, once my sister put her purse down in the sink of a bathroom to use the toilet. She didn't realize it was one of those automatic sinks, and the water went directly into her bag. Needless to say, after that she never ever put her bag in a sink.Thank you all so much! Oh no, did her purse suffer from water damage? My heart would have sunk if that ever happened to me...I think you do that with any bags. It was a Prada Nylon bag, so no, but the contents of her purse did.Oh no, did her purse suffer from water damage? My heart would have sunk if that ever happened to me...
