I would assume they'll stay there
And not miraculously disappear with a treatment
Any more photos ?
Is this box or vache natural or? Hard for me to tell
As to if its mold , or mildew it could be ... But I can't be 100% sure
I hope this helps ?

Hi again
Could be charmonix could be vache naturelle or some other leather I just can tell from the photos
I'd say that those marks aren't going to clean off
And do you really want a bag that would need to go darker in order to cover the stains ? Meaning be completely dyed ? Or would you be ok with the spots being permanent ?
Just asking

IMG_5167.PNG IMG_5168.PNG IMG_5167.PNG IMG_5168.PNG Dear Docride, this Plume seems fine apart from these two spots which worry me if I get a chance to buy. The seller hasn't given any info re. what the spots are, i e water or whatever. The leather is Evercalf. Based on these pictures, do you think they could be removed ir made less prominent? Thank you so much in advance!

Hey there
A super good professional might be able to Doctor those up a bit but it's not something that would be a home project or a cobbler shop
I don't think H would fix it completely with a spa
It looks like it could be oil? A degreaser might help in the hands of a professional however , sometimes even though the oil gets removed s stain is still present then you'd need color work which is tricky with reds esp silly spot color treatment often looks worse than the original spot .
If it bothers you seeing it now I would pass unless you are ok with just some improvement
I hope this helps ?

Wow, I didn't expect such a quick reply, forever grateful, and yes, it helps A LOT! I've been looking for a bag like this for a while but won't take it further based on your info. Since these spots are on the top of the bag they are very visible and to me they would eternally annoying. Enormous thanks for taking time and effort to reply, you have saved me money and foremost the feeling of owning something I wouldn't be satisfied with! Enjoy your weekend :-)

Hi lovely2008,
Well maybe it is lol
it's been my experience that Barenia swift gulliver vache charmonix vache espace, tan box calf, porc skin can all be mixed up interchangeably most sellers don't know as much as Hermes forum
TPFers [emoji23]
If indeed it is vache naturelle then you might be able to push the patina darker and make those spots less noticeable
A lot of work though
And the leather should be very sturdy and not tearing or cracking to start with
How does the rest of the bag look?
Here is a vache naturelle Birkin I pushed the patina on in my shop just a week ago IMG_1493473753.011522.jpg

Wow, your bag looks really nice!

The rest of the bag looks really good, corners are not worn at all. It's just the spots. Seller said it is mold. If a bag that have mold spots, are those spots permanent? will the mold return?

I still haven't heard back from the other seller on the natural birkin. Thanks for your help!:smile:

Hi
The mold would need to be killed
The spots on vache natural would most likely remain as they have stained the leather by now
The mold might return if it's not been completely killed of
Or if it gets exposed to more mold spores floating in the air and it's kept in a damp dark place

I hope this helps ?

Oh dear
Any idea what those stains are? I'm sorry but that's not a DIY project it might be difficult to get a good result from a professor al even
Be ware of professionals who would just spray color over it you will lose the wonderful hand feel
I'm sorry again please take it to a trusted professional
Or Hermes
Hang in there
Doc

Thanks for your thoughts
Are the stains possibly from water? The climate where I live can be moist. The leather is Box. The stains appear more noticeable in the pictures than wearing it. My husband hardly sees them.
I will send the bag to a professional if the appearance continues to bother me

I think I have to pass up on this bag. I don't think I want to use a bag that has been molded and go through all that trouble. Thanks so much!:biggrin::smile:

Hi doc,

It's quite hard to capture but this is showing color loss and some specks of dust trapped?

Anyway, sadly it sounds like I better bring it in, would you know if Hermes will fix the color on the body instead of just the corners? Thanks a lot for your time and patience.
You can try this this should get the goop off don't get crazy buffing and rubbing OK? good luck .

I was just looking at this the other day (along with the saddle soap), but didn't dare to get it at that time. Now feel much more reassured that I can try using this to salvage the situation. Will be extra careful, many thanks for helping out after my own klutziness caused the trouble :flowers:
