acrylics definitely add to my hands. some people have beautifully shaped, long nailbeds/fingers and don't need them....alas, i am not one of those people.
I think short nails with a coat of clear are just perfect. I never notice jewelry on fake or long nails, all I can think is something I once read on the center for disease control: Long nails, especially acrylic and fakes trap dirt, bacteria and germs that simply washing your hand does not remove. It said that more germs are under your nails than on paper money. That grossed me out and every time I see someone with nails, I just think, ew.
Of course I keep mine short, clean them with a brush at least once a day, keep my cuticles neat and oiled and always have a coat of clear for shine.
I don't really care for acrylic/gel/fake nail thing, I have rarely seen them look good... especially when a "fill" is long overdue and they haven't been properly cared for.
And then there's the bacteria thing to consider...
i hate fake nails. especially the big square ones done in a french mani with the super white tip. i think that looks tacky.
the best nails are just natural ones, not too long (just a few mm past the tip of the finger, not too square, and just well taken care of.
I think natural, weell kept nails that are not too long are the nicest.
I wish I had perfect nails but they are super short (especially now that finals are around the corner) because I have been biting them since I was 5 years old. Do you girls have an tips to quit biting nails? I tried on some E-rings last night, and they looked fabulous - I just need prettier nails!!
i think a nice simple and clean manicured nails would add so much more to a person's engagement ring. but some people who have fake nails don't look right (imo) with them on, and it detracts from their ring. but overall, i think it's a personal preference and i'd prefer to just have a simple manicure (clear/beige polish) to enhance the beauty of my engagement ring
Whether your natural nails look nice or not depend on the shape of your nails. I cannot grow my nails more than 1-2 mm beyond my nail because my nailbed is long and the length of my nailbed is almost twice the width of my nail. longer than that and my nails look like talons.
I think French manicures add to the ring. But then, i dont get them often cuz i get lots of compliements on my hands and nails although I don't like them myself. I've considered getting a French manicure but everyone says I have perfect nails and model hands. Idk. I do think though that french manicures add to the ring.
I have a French manicure, but my nails are natural, not acrylic. Actually, I do my own, about once a week. As long as your nails are well kempt, your rings, watches, bracelets, etc will look just fine.
I love acrylics and think they look very nice. I've had mine done for years and I think they make my hands look very nice.
I love to look at someones hands and see a well put together manicure. It shows that the woman likes to take care of herself. There's nothing wrong with that!
nails are just the icing on the cake, just make sure they are always kept up (you go every 2 weeks so thats good) i love the look on pretty nail (fake or real) w/any jewelry. nails just make anyone look better imo.
My personal preference is a natural non-fake nail. I don't think all acrylics look bad, but there is a point where the nail is just too long. I also hate when people have natural nails of all lengths...like one nail is really long and the next is short... they should all be the same length, clean, manicured and not too long.
