I want to sell some but as I've only recently purchased them, I feel as though I should at least use them more before letting it go for around 1/2 off.

If I'm only going to get 150-200 CAD back, I feel as though I should just use it to death instead. I don't dislike them, but I'm a bit picky with functionality.

I have thought about selling bags, but the potential hassles that come with that always seem to outweigh the benefits to me. I usually give the bags I haven’t used in a long time to my mom. She rarely buys herself anything, so it’s quite a treat for her to get a bag even if it is a little pre-loved.

Well, I sold my Melon Tea Rose. It was repaired by coach and new with Tags. And you know what, I so regretted after a month.

But, the good news is I found it on Tradsey for less than I sold it for on eBay and the difference covered the eBay and Paypal fees. So happy. Alls well that ends well

And the lesson is don't go crazy selling bags. ;-)

That's so interesting. What changed your mind in a month? I notice seasons make me give a color a second look. I gave away a beautiful bag that I LOVED the buttery leather and color of. After using it for a few days, I knew it didn't work for me. I'd gotten it for around $30 second hand. So it wasn't painful to give it away so fast. It was huge and completely puddled, and I hated using it because everything got lost inside. Now I wonder if I could have made it work with a bag organizer to give it some shape, but I know the only reason I'd even consider trying is because the leather and color were amazing and one of a kind.

True!! I haven't regretted any that I've sold thus far... except maybe one of my "vintage" bags (vintage is relative... I got it as a gift in 2000 or 2001). But then I did the same as you, re-purchased a similar but older one (a few years later). But I feel like it was a bit of an upgrade because it was made in the USA and had different hardware... my original was made in Costa Rica or somewhere

But this is a good lesson because I actually just listed and took down one of my bags within a day or so of listing it on ebay because I thought I might regret selling it. I started looking at it more after taking photos, and decided I wasn't quite ready to part with it (even though I only used it 1-2x since buying it more than a year ago). Unfortunately, I feel like a good number of my bags are kind of 'museum pieces', meaning they are so pretty that I would rather just look at them than take them out of the house. It doesn't help that I moved and now I do a LOT of walking around instead of driving, which means that I only really use my convenient and lightweight crossbody/tote/commuter bags since I am usually gone from the house for a full day.

When I decide to get rid of a bag, I take it out of the closet and move it to another room where I put stuff I'm getting rid of. I leave it there for a while and if I never miss it, then I sell it.

I went back and forth on the bag. I used it for a while and then it lost a flower. I sent it into Coach for repair and they sent me a new one. And I never took the tags off, so I had used it for a while.

I was selling off bags and I was in between jobs and worried about my taxes. So, I thought the bag was too much and I did not need it. Taxes came in much, much less than I thought. And I got some consulting.

And kept on thinking about the bag. I love the tea roses and I like the 31 not the 25 and there have not been a lot of 31's.

Oh what a great idea! I like to get things out in a hurry asap, but this is a fantastic idea when you need to confirm it's time to let something go.

It sounds like you made a great choice both times. It's great it ended up such a happy outcome. :)

Thanks! I like to hurry up and get rid of stuff fast too, but this was my way of making sure I wouldn't have seller's remorse. Some bags I knew there wouldn't be any remorse, so those went immediately, but most went in the pile first.

Hi all,

Well, I just went through a period where I sold off about half my bags. These are all bags I did not use anymore and they were beautiful bags. Rogues, Carolines, Flagship, etc. I just felt like I had too many and I wanted to buy some new bags. I had about 20 bags and now, I have about 10.

What amazed me is by the end, I thought it was such a good thing to clean out my closet and get the money back for all of these bags - I never pay retail for bags, so this was more rent a bag. And the approach was out with the old, and in with the new.

Everything I have left are bags I looooove so much and I use. I would feel so bad to be buying new bags if I did not sell the old ones off. I just sold the Suede fringe Rouge and I'm going to get the beautiful Ivy Rouge during the sale.

Anyone else do this? I'm pretty happy to see a lot less bags in my closet.

Congratulations on your closet clean out! It’s great to hear how much you love what you chose to keep! I sold bags when I am not reaching for them frequently, if there’s a functional issue, if they no longer suit my lifestyle and style or if I have a duplicate in terms of function, colour or style. It enables be to tighten my handbag wardrobe to much loved and often carried pieces. I have been actively curating my bag wardrobe for the last five years. I let go of 1/3 of my bag wardrobe since the beginning of 2018 and purchased 0 so far this year. It feels great and lighter to have a tightly edited wardrobe of favourites I love and carry frequently!

I don't sell in order to buy another bag. That doesn't really work because the money I get from a sale isn't enough to buy anything new. I would have to sell about 5 things in order to have enough to buy one new bag, and eventually this wouldn't work, as I would run out of bags. I sell if I don't think I'm carrying a bag enough and I don't think I'll miss it if it is gone. I buy a bag if I feel like getting one. My purchases are independent of my selling.
I’m also with @whateve - my purchases are independent of my selling. However, new additions often create the opportunity for me to reassess and rehome other bags, that particularly overlap with the new bag in function and/or colour. :giggle:
