I have a good 30+ and several slgs I would love to sell. I've just been too paranoid to try eBay plus the amount of time it will take to post them, gather shipping supplies, and send them out has kept me from doing it. There are local consignment shops and eBay valet but I know I won't get much at all if that's what I end up doing.
There should be a "trading post" on here for us to exchange bags & slgs!

Definitely.

Like you, I sorta feel guilty if I buy something new without selling an older one.

Plus I enjoy getting new things! I plan to only keep bags that I truly LOVE or have sentimental value to them.

100% heck yes! Over the last two years, I've probably sold over dozen Coach bags; Boroughs, Mercers, Rogues & Saddlebags mostly. I tend to give smaller items, like wallets & wristlets to friends. I currently have 6 bags set aside to list to sell this weekend.
I have had extremely good success. I think I've only had to relist an item maybe two or three times and it eventually sold the second time around, but those were a little bags that were much older. Coach has, in my opinion, a very good resale value. However, I will admit that I take EXTREMELY good care of my bags. I keep all original packaging and tags and store them that way.
Over the years my tastes have changed and by selling on eBay, I am able to replace bags using the money that I make from selling them. In many instances, I keep the money that I make for my sales in my PayPal account and then use that money to maybe buy something that another person has listed on eBay.
I've never sold on any other platform other than eBay. I'm just very comfortable with the eBay platform and I would plan to stick with it. In my opinion, the most important features when selling a bag on eBay are accurate descriptions, many quality photos, of the actual bag, not stock photos. I will not buy a bag if the only photos there are stock photos or if there are only one or two photos. I typically list with the dozen free photos eBay allows. I don't always make a profit, but it's not always about that. If there's a bag that's worth hundreds sitting in my closet on used, why not sell it to buy something that you know you will use.
It can be time-consuming but I find it rewarding to be able to use a bag for a couple years and then perhaps sell it allowing me to buy a newer bag that I like more.
I recently put together a storage area to put all of my bags. I wanted to be able to see them, which has helped me realize exactly what I have so that I don't purchase things that are duplicative. My goal is to keep the bags contained within this storage unit. If I start to put bags on the side or on the top, etc, then it's time to look to thin the herd. ;)
I'm not sure if this answered any questions, or just allowed me to go on a lengthy rant. Ha! In any event, hopefully you find it useful.

Yes! I just went through my purse closet and pulled a few more bags to sell to make room for the new ones coming. I only sell bags that I know I would break about even on (I buy a lot pre-owned and like @Galaxygrrl basically "rent" the bag.
I have a bunch in there that I don't use anymore, but would not get anything for, so I keep those. I figure I'd rather have the bag than the $40 it would sell for. Plus when my niece comes to visit, it's fun to let her pick out a bag or two.
The bags I paid full price for or even now the 30% off discount are the ones that are hard to let go of, even when they aren't getting use anymore. I try to speed date them and if it's really not love, then they go into the sell pile as well.

I think the 'renting' option is a great idea! It's not really feasible for me in Canada since I pay such high taxes to import items and shipping costs are high, but if you have the time and knowledge and can make it work, I think it's a great option. I'd be much more amenable to buying a very trendy design or colour if I knew I was just going to keep it for a single season.

I’ve sold bags on Poshmark but never on eBay. At this time I have 53 bags and I am def selling at least 1/2 of these in the very near future.

I have bunch of LV, And chanel bags, and honestly, they’re not my favorites. My coach bags are my favorites and I don’t feel horrible spending money on them.

I also like all my bags where I can see them in my closet and I like to use all my bags. I’m trying not duplicate bags/colors either. So I’m trying to gravitate towards bags that have unique features rather than buying every black bag I can find.

I’ve also realized that I need larger bags, and a lot of my bags are too small to hold my essentials for going out, so they gotta go.

That being said, yes, I’ll sell the bags I no longer use, as long as they don’t fill a hole in my collection.

I don't sell in order to buy another bag. That doesn't really work because the money I get from a sale isn't enough to buy anything new. I would have to sell about 5 things in order to have enough to buy one new bag, and eventually this wouldn't work, as I would run out of bags. I sell if I don't think I'm carrying a bag enough and I don't think I'll miss it if it is gone. I buy a bag if I feel like getting one. My purchases are independent of my selling.

I have not sold any bags, but I do give them away to family and friends. I need to clear out some bags, so I started a board on Pinterest to help me track them. I just find it very difficult letting go of my bags.

Have you compared the prices on Postmark vs. eBay. I did it at one point. eBay looks like the bags sold faster and sold for more. I only looked at Coach though.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ve got a few bags to list tomorrow. I’ll try eBay.

Here is a trick. Do a search on eBay. Then, go to advanced (upper right hand side). Then you will get to search on competed listings. You can see what bags like yours have sold for and what the market will bear. Then, you know what the pricing is and if you want to price to sell or if you want to wait it out to get a better price. There is clearly a price point issue that impacts sales on eBay.

I'm not sure how the selling fees differ but I've seen the same bag listed on some sites like posh and others and it is also listed on eBay. The eBay listing seems to always be higher and I assumed it was because of the fees eBay charges but could be wrong. Maybe the seller knows eBay will get them more. I haven't done any research and have only sold on eBay. It would be too stressful for me to list the same item on both sites. I usually list as "Buy it Now" so what if someone buys it while I'm negotiating on the other sites? I guess I could end the eBay listing if I feel I have a buyer on the other site.

Ebay is 10%, Posh is 20% but provides a shipping label which is a flat $6.49, and you don't have to pay commission on the label. There is a greater risk of returns or complaints with ebay. If you have an authenticity complaint, on ebay you'll be forced to take the return if you don't want to lose the bag and the money; on Posh, the item is returned to them and they will be a determination of authenticity, so you are more protected in that respect. However, their authenticators aren't very good. We've had members here who have bought fakes, returned them to Posh, and Posh decided they were authentic.
