In most cases, I'd love gold much more than silver. But it depends in case of bags because the hardware is unlikely the first thing that catch my eyes (:

I'd say it depends on the bag, but generally speaking I gravitate towards silver toned hardware, especially on a black bag.
I prefer gold hardware. Gold hardware tends to make most colors of leather pop more. Gold hardware seems more exquisite to me. Sometimes I do prefer silver hardware for some edgy bags.

Silver is nice but I feel gold makes things look more luxe and expensive. Silver is nice for non showy or ostentatious looks but when you want to be noticed gold is the winner.
I'm a silver gal ... But gold can be cute on the right bag. DH tells me this is the year of "all gold everything" and I should jump on the gold wagon! Ha!
I never thought it mattered and I never thought about it when buying a bag but since I bought a coat with gold detailing last year, I've found that I've noticed the contrast when I wear my coat and carry a bag with silver hardware, and must say I've noticed myself gearing more towards gold hardware to match my coat. Just bought another jacket with gold hardware, so I guess the trend continues!
