Do you like your bags to remain pristine?

I go the usual route of trying to keep them as clean and spotless as I can. Duh, after all I have spent on them! But I love them even more when they are broken in at last and has one or two signs of my using them.

Or do you prefer them once they are a bit beaten up and unique to you? Would you consider customising an expensive designer bag with stickers etc?
I find it really hard to wear a new bag and i find the first flaws/ scratches agonising but i love seeing other peoples obviously used and loved bags!!! :p

I use my bags but I also take care of them with leather cleaner and conditioner. A few scratches and scruffs do not upset me. If a repair is needed but cannot be done, then it's time to retire the bag and get a new one.

Like most people I would prefer new looking over used and worn, but at the same time I don't have the time or energy to baby my bags. Like all clothing and accessories bags have a purpose and it is to be worn. Besides when it comes to retire my bags I'm OK with that.

I like my bags to look brand new forever but I am way to lazy to clean or moisturize or protect them.

Although I just bought a Gucci bamboo top handle and when I was going out to dinner and it was raining, I switched to a different bag so the bamboo wouldn't get wet.

Oh my goodness that's the first time I ever did anything like that over a purse.:ban:

I like my bags to remain pristine if possible! I don't mind "breaking them in", but I'd prefer my bags remain clean and scratch-less! :P
I don't do anything like use bag cleaners or anything, I just store them in their dust bags and hope for the best. :)

I prefer pristine. I'm the type that leaves the plastic and tags on things until something forces me to take it off. It's usually my SO who hates it! Lol

Yes n no. Some styles looks better when they age, leather on certain bags will look so yummy when they started to slouch/soften. Example are hobo bags and Balenciaga bags

And it depend on size too. Example is Hermes Birkin: on small size I prefer the bag to maintain its structure but for B 35, I will prefer such size to look slouchy.

Some leather looks better age they age/patina. I don't mind scratches on them as long as they patina nicely. Scratches n patina only add character to the bag.

There r some design that looks better as structured bag, I wish them to remain pristine but that is quite impossible lol.

Bags that I nitpick about keeping pristine - are typically the ones I think I might sell down the line except for light colored bags. I hate the idea of keeping bags in a showcase. It's wasted money.

Like most others, I try to avoid getting that first scratch, but I (typically) breathe a sigh of relief once I have it and find that I enjoy the bag more. A case in point--I took my brand new Ralph Lauren Ricky chain bag - http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main...C0F9&Ntt=ralph+lauren+ricky&N=0&bmUID=kYDf5x2 -- to a concert tonight and it came home with its first few scratches. C'est la vie. I bought it to use primarily on weekends (for events exactly like the one I took it to tonight) and am relieved to know that it scratches well, meaning the scratches aren't that noticeable and work well with the bag's style and color. This bag will look cooler with even more scratches :).

I'm a big Celine fan and inquired about the choice of palmelato calfskin (this scratches immediately) for most of the Blade bags when I visited the NYC boutique about a year ago. I was told the choice was intentional -- the bag is not intended to be kept in pristine condition. That makes sense to me. It is a crossbody with a very urban feel, and it does look cooler with a few scratches. I've come to feel the same way about my Marni trunk bag. It is very structured, but is also urban in style and constructed of very soft leather. It got scratched immediately, and I like it better this way. Hmmm, structured and very soft leather--maybe this is my style!

I think the leather I like just tends to wear and get scratched more easily than other leathers. I tried saffiano briefly and hated it. My Fendi crayons wallet developed white spots in less than a year and it always looked plastic-y to me anyway, as did my Fendi 2Jours. I sold both.

I agree 100% that it is no good to appear to be a slave to one's bag. It strikes me as inelegant. I know someone who will put her bag on her chair behind her in restaurants (if another chair isn't free), rather than put it on the floor. Then, she teeters on the tip of her chair the whole meal--sigh.

People put stickers on bags?!?! Egads!!! That sounds horrible. I also really dislike stains and significant loss of shape. Either would probably cause me to stop using a bag. Of course, the shape thing depends on the bag. My PS1s are slouching beautifully, as they are intended to do, and I love them even more now. But my Marni trunk bag really needs to retain its shape . . .

No. I like my things to show I've gone places. I don't mind wear and tear but I need it cleaned out regularly. I hate seeing years old receipts stuffed in a corner, coins rolling at the bottom and dusty insides ( my mother is a horrible housekeeper and her bags reflect that). I don't mind personalization via stickers, better than paint since they can be removed. I want a no smoking sticker actually since I'm quitting it. Wonder if Anya Hindmarch does one?

Ps. I am more obsessed with keeping my face pristine but at my age it's getting hard!
