Not as in "Oh yeah, it's real" to describe your fake, but...

As I was writing today's blog entry about my Speedies, I was giggling to myself because all of my parents think my Louis are fakes. Because they'd be super hella miffed if they knew they were real, and how much money I have tied up in those babies.

Anyone else? :graucho:

Never because I never was put in a situation like that, but I am a young LV collector and if the time comes, I wouldn't mind trading my pride for a few minutes for a lecture. I know it sounds silly but I know one day one of my mom's friends will ask me why I carry around LV when I should be studying (and the like) and I have a feeling I'll crack and just blurt out "Oh no worries it's fake. Are we done now?".

I have a few times. Several times at the mall, I had what I could only term as a gang of young girls come up to me oohing and aahing over a bag. I felt really uncomfortable and as I had heard of some robberies in the parking lot and one actually in a rest room where someone was followed and her purse stolen (she had said, "Oh, yes, of course it's real!"), I said - "No way, it's a really good fake, don't you think? I would never pay those kinds of prices!" It was a situation where I felt I was potentially making myself a target by admitting my bag was real.

I have to admit I have done the same. Mostly in situations where the other party was struggling financially and I didn't want to make them feel bad. It's pretty ackward to have to lie about your bag being fake when it's real but I rather lie then hurt someones feelings or make them feel bad in any way.

When I got my first Louis Vuitton I had planned on planning everyone it was fake except for my family and boyfriend just because I didn't want people being mean about me having such an expensive bag. I am a college student and I work part time at a low paying job but I live at home so I am able to save my money to pay for one. I hate when people beg to know how much my bag cost so they can roll their eyes and act shocked.

I have not. I love my bags too much :hugs: I'm proud of every purchase I make.

However, I was in a parking garage with my Mom and she had her Vernis Brea and a really creepy guy was following us around. We got in the elevator and he started talking about my Mom's bag like "that's a really nice bag there. Must have cost a lot of money." To which she replied "It's fake and cost about 20 bucks." He left us alone after that.

I've never been in a situation like that myself but, if I was, I would probably lie as well. Safety first!

I havent lied about the authenticity of my bags but I did once say that I bought it used that way they wouldn't think I'm crazy for paying full price especially since it was the first bag I had bought over $1k.

Nope, never. I hate when someone asks me if my bag is real, and then they give me 'the look' when I tell them it is real. It's like... why are you even asking? People are going to think what they want to think. I know all my things are real, which is good enough for me - but I would never lie and tell someone I was carrying a fake!

I can totally understand what people are saying about saying their bags are fake to protect themselves, though! If I thought someone might be interested in stealing my bag, I'd be more likely to say it was fake!

I think I agree with everyone here on both sides. If I thought my safety was in question because of it, then absolutely its a fake. If its just someone admiring or admonishing because of the cost then no, its real and who cares what you think? I dont recall asking for your opinion? :confused1:
