Do you find Coach 1941 Collection bags to be comparable to higher end contemporary/premier bags?

I thought the Nomads were 1941 - they just added more details as the 1941 grew! I have one of those too, I purchased it at launch and was super stocked by the lining!

Well, it doesn't have the special hangtag that all the 1941 bags have, and the retail price is more reasonable than many 1941 bags, but it does have the leather lining - so I figured that the Nomads were pre-1941.

It's not 1941, but I totally love the style and the gorgeous leather lining of the Nomad bags!

They had 3 colors of the large Nomads (cornflower, eggplant, and true red) at my outlet recently for 50% off and I was tempted - but I already have 2 Nomads, and it is an older style - but if they were cheaper I might have caved in and gotten one of them!

I think that the Nomad is an under-appreciated bag that belongs in the same class as the 1941 bags, but happily it isn't in the 1941 group and so that makes it less expensive!

The Drifter has leather lining as well! These are both amazingly well-made bags.

The Nomads were released right around the same time when the 1941 collection debuted; I have a 1941 saddle 23 and another saddle 35, don't care for the Rogue, but have 6 Nomads. Since I have never gotten F&F, despite having spent in the five figures in the 3 years I shopped from Coach, I normally don't go for 1941. The quality of the Nomad is pretty comparable to Coach's higher-end bags, and to some premier brands as well.

I agree that Nomad and Drifter are both the same level of quality as 1941, despite not being part of the line! I also have some other non-1941 Coach items from the past few seasons, and I would say in my experience the quality has always been great. I think what sets the 1941 collection apart is really the design, the embellishments and the more high-end branding.

I have one of these as well. Nomad and Drifter turned me into a more regular visitor, after a few years of hiatus.

I can't figure out how the F&F works. I remember getting it not long after getting my first Coach bag. And another time or two in the subsequent year or so. Then basically never again. In the past year or two, I got back on the list occasionally - never seeming to be timed with when I want something.

But I recently lucked out and ran into a friendly SA who told me about it and I left with a Dinky!

I am a semi-regular window shopper, but not a regular buyer.

I got my most recent bag at full price. Not all bags are tempting at full price. But I am not opposed either. It depends on the bag and my wishlist at the moment. Most bags I have paid full price for. Most SLGs I got on sale.

If the bag is still available at your local outlet and you are still wanting it, I can send you the coupon card that's extra 25% off if over $250 at coach outlet. This bag is not under my radar yet simply because it's too big for me. Thank you for sharing! I didn't know it's leather lining.
Another leather lining none-1941 bag that I know of is drifter

The 1941 collection and Stuart Vevers design direction made me fall in love with Coach again. I had bought a couple of C covered bags from the 00’s when I was younger, but as you know, they had SO much fabric! :doh:Stuart’s designs are playful, classy, functional and (most importantly) they make me feel great when I carry my bag. If only my wallet didn’t feel so light in my bags... :p

Thank you, that is very kind! I think that I will resist because I have 2 Nomads already, but it is tempting. I used to buy loads of bags from a line that I loved, and so now I own a lot of Kristin and Madison bags that I hardly ever carry! So now I try to buy no more than 2 of a similar style, but that's a guideline and not really a rule!

I think the Coach 1941 bags are comparable in quality to higher end designer bags. Some of the regular Coach New York bags, if I am being honest, are also up there in terms of quality of stitching and structure.

My YSL College Monogram Large had a cloth interior and was, at the end of it all, a top flap bag with a cheap faux gold finish chain. The packaging from the store that shipped it to me was very basic, the ordering service was basic as to be almost subpar, and it came with NO note, receipt, or additional ribbons or boxes. The return period at the time was also 7 days.

When I bought my Coach 1941 rogue, I received ribbons, a box and a dustbag that fit the bag well. The receipt, as all Coach orders do, came in a branded envelope in heavy cardstock in matte black. It felt like a gift to myself and I hadn't even ordered gift wrapping service.

Louis Vuitton orders in store and online have similar presentation, sans boxes for bags, though.

Gucci takes great care with its SLGs in store, similar to Coach 1941 and Louis Vuitton, but I cannot say anything about the bags aside from the quality I perceived of them when in store. Most current Gucci bags have fabric linings.

The hardware does not feel anymore luxurious in premier design houses like Gucci, YSL or LV, etc. It's all the same. I take that back some of the Coach 1941 hardware, especially at the outset of the line, seemed more substantial (perhaps even heavier).

I am in the minority in that I dislike leather linings because of weight, but if that's the standard, Coach meets and exceeds. I think some of the personal feelings around Coach being high quality are regarding the fact that they design in the USA and produce 1941 in Vietnam and not in the EU (but tthat's certainly another topic).

I still think of 1941 as high-end contemporary, but I think it’s the best value out there given its design and details. It ticks all of the boxes for what I want in a bag, but there are little things that prevent me from classifying them as premier (such as scars on the leather and copious use of black edgepaint as opposed to matching). It doesn’t bother me and these things don’t really matter in terms of construction, but I just can’t put them in the same category as something like Delvaux because of this.

Honestly, I appreciate how durable contemporary bags tend to be over premier. Premier goods tend to need more maintenance and to be handled more delicately (Chanel lambskin comes to mind). Coach is far more durable, 1941 included, and I hope this never changes.

The leather lining is a hit as well as a miss for me. The leather lining is fairly thin so it doesn't seem to add much weight to me and it has a great soft feeling for the inside of the bag. But, on the other hand, the leather lining is NOT forgiving when accidents happen inside a leather lined bag. The only pen I allow in my bag is one with a cap and it is kept inside of an eyeglasses case with a spare pair of glasses. I don't carry any liquids such as perfume or lotion in my bag, but others do and that's an accident waiting to happen in a leather lined bag. You can't just pull out and wash the leather lining like you can a fabric lining. I like the leather lining, but at the same time I'm hesitant of it because of how easily it could stain.

I am the opposite. Maybe because I never thought about washing the linings, even the fabric lining, I never considered pulling it out and washing it. I am worried of getting the leather part wet. While the leather lining I can use leather conditioner to wipe out the dirt.

Above all I love the touch of leather lining it's so soft!

It might be sacrilege but I have never worried about my bag interiors getting stained.

It is part of the wear and tear of the bag. I’d be worried if it was something like coffee or soda that leaves a smell. But run of the mill ink stains or lotion? Not concerned.

I tend to use a bag till it is no longer useful for me. Only recently have I tried to consign bags as part of the discard process. But as long as I got my money’s worth, and money back is a bonus. I’m not in it for the resale value.

I did have an incident with a lipgloss in one of my bags. I did attempt to remove it and failed. Maybe if I wash it. I got over it.

I really like the leather since you can condition it to keep it looking new. And as my aunt told me, it is more durable. While I can’t think of many times that I have had an issue with my bag lining, it adds an appealing luxurious feel to a bag.
