Do You Ever Feel Pursed Out?

 Great responses from everyone!

And I agree, that no matter your financial situation or the cost of the items you are bringing - that if you are taking in a large amount of items that you know aren't going to be used to their full potential, that is definately basis for buyer's remorse...

I felt this way in February, when I had a number of NWT handbags hanging out in my closet, in larger numbers then what I was used to in the past. Also, with handbags, since they take up more space, I think it is more noticable that you have things that aren't being used VS. clothing that can hang in the closet undetected...

Anyhow, 12 bags is alot - like Dewey mentioned... I would slow down & take the time to enjoy your purchases... :flowers:

i make a point to try and only buy one bag at a time, i try to have my heart set on them for at least a few weeks before i allow myself to buy a bag , i mean not ALL the time there are times something just jumps out at me but for the most part

and i def. make a point to only get one bag at a time, or 1 bag from one designer one from another if i am going to get a few, so that i can enjoy each individually and i am not someone who keeps tags oon bags and never uses them i use everytihng

and i feel like if you dont find yourself using them and only really like to look at it,,,maybe its not worth keeping??

i think you should slow down just a little and really think through each bag, make sure it will really be useful to you :) and maybe dont order 6 at a time during F and F :( it just sounds like too many at once to really know if you adore each and every one :)

goodluck i know you will sort it out :)

i echo a lot of what everyone has brilliantly said here so far! i'm a sahm and work p/t and i hadn't purchased a new bag since about Fall '06. I was itching for a white spring purse one snowy day in Feb. this year. I drove to the Lahaska Coach factory store for the first time since I moved her several yrs. ago and fell in love with a wonderfully reduced antique brown leather Coach mia soho satchel. Bought it, loved it, but since it was $239 I searched google for "Coach mia satchel review" and then came upon this forum!

so now about eight weeks later, BECAUSE OF THIS FORUM AND MY RENEWED IMPULSE SPENDING, I not only have: 1. coach mia, i also have 2. a chloe paddy medium front pocket, 3. a kate spade flatiron thea, 4. a red leather coach wallet and i'm expecting via fedex a 5. dior trotter romantique medium bosten in beige. I am mailing back and getting refunds on: 6. a Be and D stella, 7. Rafe astor hobo, 8. Rafe leather hobo and 9. Rafe leather tote. ugh. i have promised to not get another handbag until Christmas!!!

It sounds to me like you might be going a little overboard with retail therapy. It is awfully hard to love and need 12 bags in a month, with accessories to boot. But it IS easy to divert your attention from what you really want or need with purchases like that. But they won't solve anything.

Take some time to enjoy your purchases and take a breather. You will find your purse passion might be a lot more focused after you do.

I know we often times purchase things because we are trying to avoid something or fill some specific need. Maybe we're anxious or fearful; maybe we're just looking for that thrill that comes with purchasing a new treasure. I know I've caught myself doing this in the past, and I end up returning and/or selling off items.

Sometimes less is more.

When we have too much of anything, it takes away its specialness--we cannot love so many things at one time. Have you ever noticed the sense of peace and space you have when you get rid of things or clean out your closet? It's as if you can breathe again.

And thank you for being so brave in posting your struggle. I imagine you have helped many others who are feeling similar things.

I hope you will find the strength to sit with this for awhile and uncover what is behind your need to accumulate more bags. It is through that road that you will find peace.

We're here for you if you need us.

I am doing the same thing. I have a huge merch. credit and I just can't seem to find the perfect handbag. I think in the back of my mind I keep thinking about how much they cost and then I don't want to use them because I am afraid I will get them dirty. I really want a white handbag. I have had the Mandy, ali, slim tote and found a reason to return all of them. mainly, they cannot be cleaned. I am reconsidering the ali. not sure what to do, bought the andrea satchel today, now think that it may be too big it is really wide. had to order it. Still looking for the perfect handbag!

As much as I love Coach, you would be shocked to see that I really only have 6 bags and accessories to go with each, and two of them are tiny bags (demi and pouch) and one tote bag for travel. My only real purses are a Soho Tote (9544) which is my favorite bag ever, my new Ergo Tote (to be used next fall), and a black fabric Hampton's tote from the outlet last summer.

I do have a problem with buying bags for my daughter, though...but she is very appreciative, loves all of them, and takes great care of them as well.

I don't feel that way. Most likely b/c I hardly ever buy handbags-I buy the ones that I love and think about them for a while before I buy them. I love a lot of the popular bags, too but by the time I am ready to buy them they are sold out, which helps, too. :smile1:

I agree you do deserve a break. Just a suggestion but if you feel stressed, etc. I find that if I go for a walk to clear my head or visit a relative or a friend at their home, not at a mall or anything-it helps me calm down. Good luck.

The perfect handbag for me is the Coach mia soho satchel. i have it in antique brown leather and it really is my favorite bag! the contrast stitching, gold buckles and the braid handle are sooooo gorgeous. if you can get it in brown/brown signature - you're golden. these bags may still be in the factory stores.

I'm starting to get sick of Coach shopping myself. In the past few weeks I have:

Gone to the outlet store innocently, thinking i'd get one teeny tiny bag. Left the outlet store with a purple/white signature pouch, purple/white signature wristlet and a gold/khaki optic lunch tote.

Returned the purple/white wristlet to Coach boutique. Got store credit.

Used store credit (plus cash) to purchase Scribble pouch and mini skinny. Noticed mini skinny had scratches on the lozenge. Exchanged mini skinny for new one. New mini skinny was lopsided. Got p!ssed and returned both scribble items for MORE store credit. While there, tried on medium leather carly, decided I wanted to order it in camel. Paid for order, have to wait 5 business days for order to come in. Still waiting.

After ordering leather carly, won leather polka dot demi on ebay which I love.

In the meantime, F&F at Macy's went down - hubby surprised me with demi khaki/saddle carly. Well crap of craps, I think I like this better than the camel leather carly. Hubby wanted to show me more at Macy's today, ended up buying sig pink stripe mini skinny and watercolor mini skinny. Not loving the watercolor so it may go back. Keeping the pink one.

Stopped in Coach store today to ask them about canceling leather carly. Can't cancel the order but I can return it when it gets in. Now I will have $300 in store credit and will get $100 cash refund. Eyeballing large soho flap in mahogany, which hubby is pressuring me to buy because it's his favorite. Have Coach clerk put one back for me in case I want to buy it tomorrow "if" I decide to return leather carly.

And now-there is the possibility of another trip to the outlet mall this weekend. AAAHHH!!!! Back to where I started!!! :wtf:

I always feel pursed out all of the time and I always feel as though I'm spending waaaay too much money on my things. That's probably because most of my accessories still have tags on them and my bags are rarely carried. *shrug* yea, I get a wee bit depressed over the situation, but I can't stop buying. Buying them makes me feel GOOD! Lol!
