Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the quantity of the bags you have?

At times I do but I don't think I have too many, anyway. I think I have at least 10 but that's a mixture of clutches, totes and smaller bags. I haven't downsized yet (I can't bear to sell my bags so that's why I try to carefully pick which bags to get) but I'm at a good place at the moment. After my big splurge on a Celine bag, I'll probably only get 1 bag a year now since i have a mortgage now - I already bought like 4 bags at the start of the year eek!

Now I do since I'm into 50-ish number of bags (less than 10 are premiere and the rest contemporary)! I'm not able to use all and some still have tags on them. I have started to list some bags in our local ebay, but I doubt some will have takers since some of the brands I got to know here in tpf are not mainstream in my country, like Rebecca Minkoff. So yes, I feel overwhelmed since much as I want to downsize I don't have a market. Of course I can give away some. But some I really need to sell since there are still some brands and pieces I'm liking but I cannot rationalize getting financially.

Not really because I don't have that many in the first place :p I have a few premier bags because I would rather spend on a bag that will last me even if it costs more, versus accumulating many bags that will not really last. I'm guessing many people here on this forum have many premier bags but I can't afford that many yet myself. I suppose I could buy many contemporary bags versus a few premier but again I'd rather get a bag that lasts me longer and/or is a classic. When I was thinking about this you could get 30 bags at $300 (assuming that's the average for contemporary) and spend $9000... You can only get around 3-7 premier bags at that cost. I have nothing against people who do the former but right now I'm just the latter. I know there are good contemporary brands out there that offer bang for buck so I am considering it down the line. When that happens I might end up getting overwhelmed at the number of bags I have (assuming I buy more than what I have been).

I don't until I count. LOL. It always seems like so much more when I start counting. And it's worse if I do it by memory, because I keep slowing remembering more and more...

I believe I'm somewhere around 50-60 premium designer, and another 75 or so in contemporary (MBMJ, See by Chloe, Kate Spade)

My total hovers around 15-20, as a mix of premium and contemporary. It's a good number for me and I intend to stick to that. So I don't feel overwhelmed because I am selective, especially with my premium designers. For contemporary, those cycle in and out of my collection and I keep those to a minimum percentage of my collection.

No; I have approaching 30 (about 20 premier and 10 Coach), but do think I will stop buying come spring, since there's nothing that I like in the previews. Since I rotate frequently, 30 is about the max for me, before some will never see the light of day. So number-wise, it'll be a good time to stop anyway.

Yes. And I don't have a premier designer (for lack of want) but my contemporary collection is enough. I'm tempted to give my friends bags as gifts at least the ones I haven't used. I wish I had thought more on my purchases before I purchased since I can't use then all at once

I have over 20 bags. Most contemporary designer bags, some no name and one premier designer bag.
I don't feel overwhelmed or bad about the size of my collection.

I have been collecting since 2007, so all bags had their time and I keep old favorites to still wear them once in a while rather than giving them away.
Most of my bags weren't very pricey (around 200). Maybe I'd feel it was too many if each bag was 2000.
I also like the variety. Even though favorites get more wear on other days I can really enjoy a bag I wear less often.

One thing that also helps is planning outfits for certain bags and the other way around. When I notice I haven't worn a bag in a while, I try to put an outfit together for it, usually by matching the color and style.

I feel that way sometimes...but at the same time, I love having the variety to choose from. I "purged" a TON over the last couple years by selling them on ebay, but then bought so many more over the last few months again (the fall season kills me!)...so sometimes I do feel overwhelmed. It sounds stupid, but when I'm carrying one bag, I think about another that I have at home and then I MISS that one! My husband jokes that I should "go all out and carry them all at the same time"...the epitome of a crazy bag lady, lol. And yes, I still look at bags in stores. But I want to stop doing that - I have more than enough right now.

Lol at the crazy bag lady ^^

No, I consider each purchase very carefully - I've bought two bags in the past three months, but they were each many months under consideration.

If you're feeling overwhelmed, why not consider a thorough inventory check and then take note of whether you have double-ups (where you have 2-3 bags that are essentially the same in terms of design/colour/function) or whether there is anything in your collection that you simply aren't using, whether because it's dated or doesn't suit your lifestyle. Move those ones on and don't replace

I do this. And people are surprisingly thrilled to receive my old bags
