Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the quantity of the bags you have?

Good for you! Seriously. That is an awesome feeling. I "purged" more bags than I can count (or care to remember), and really only regret selling one or two of them....

Then Fall 2013 rolled around and I went on a crazy buying spree again. : /

I love all of my current bags and do not want/plan to sell any, but I need to stop buying. I need to stay away from stores!

Yup.. Bingin g/purging does not count as minimalistic in my opinion. Enjoy your collection!

If it's any consolation, I used to feel somewhat overwhelmed as well. But then I realized the problem was "inventory control". I cataloged all my bags by designer and then by size. Next, I set up an Access file that allows me to enter what bags and accessories I plan to use on any given day. It sounds complicated, but once I put it into practice it has simplified my life greatly. I choose my bag and accessories the night before, forcing me to also chose what I'll be wearing the next day. In this way, having over forty bags allows me to consciously enjoy the lovely collection I truly treasure.

I do the same thing, and I'm quite happy with what I did! I'm glad I categorized them by color as well as by size and some of the pics have shoes that go along with it. I love color but I have more reds, browns, and blacks than any other colors. By sorting them out, I can easily talk myself out of buying a bag that is almost similar in design to the ones I have. So, though I have plenty, I can reason out on why I have different styles in one color (for example, red). And I know I can definitely accessorize them with different outfits! :)

It took me the longest time to let go. But I just couldn't live witb stuff that I do not use anymore.

Haha! I know the feeling. After reading this thread, I am trying to convince myself that my current collection of 7 bags is enough but I still here on TPF doing my research. I guess I can't stop just yet. Will splurge on an SLG next instead.

I like to stay around 10 bags - which includes clutches, crossbodys, hobos & satchels. Every now & then I tend to get carried away & go over 10, then get upset that I have all these bags that I do not use, so I sell some. Right now I am at 10. I love my collection & am enjoying it, but of coarse have my eyes on many bags that I wish to have. I love bags!! I do use the same bag for a month or two at a time, I don't switch often - only if the bag does not go with the outfit.

I have about 60 bags all premium designers ( Hermes, Chanel, LV, Celine, Chloe, Gucci, Prada ant Givenchy). I love them all and use them all, I rotate to match my outfits (I use a purse organizer for some bags so it is easy to transfer bags). The good thing about having alot is that they won't get worn as you rotate them enough, plus I pamper my bags as they are never on the floor and put away in my purse closet in a dust bag. I am content with my collection, I have all the ones I want and need. I use to want a bag a week but now I don't find a need. Last bag I purchased was a Hermes Kelly about 4 month ago and have none on my wish list.

I also find that I use shopping as therapy. I love handbags and shoes! I keep some that I never wear just because of sentimental value, but I did just sell 3 bags which I think was progress. I am sorry that you have a chronic pain condition. By your avatar and some of your posts I can tell that you have a great sense of style!

Thank you, that is really sweet! Progress is always a good thing :)

I appreciate your kind words!

The bag in my avatar is my absolute favorite :)

I share this feeling as well, but then again I'm happy I can choose from a good collection. There are so many occasions in life where one bag fits better than the other although I have all-time favorites. It's still fun to change once in a while and have a pop of color here and there

Every time I see this topic pop up, I think, "hmmm, I need another bag". I love my collection, and can't wait to increase in shapes, styles, and colors. I want to have something to look back when I'm older and pass to my nieces or friends children, or something.

I dare not write how many bags I have :p

But my policy is that they must fit into my special bag closets! Right now they are stacked like plastic bags in a supermarked, and I forget now and then what bags I have..lol!

But since I have paid for each and every single one, I don't feel like I miss the money I put into them...It's more like a hobby... so no not overwhelmed!

Now I discovered a new brand, I need to clear out some of my bags..not that I ever will get 'personal' with my bags per se. So if my house burns down, well, so be it..I think I'll feel differently especially about my books and photo albums..and perhaps my perfume collection!!!:graucho:

Haha nice I agree. Should never have personal attachments to material things - that's dangerous in itself!

Be Blessed MoNikki

No, I don't do clutter. If I haven't worn something for over a year it's gone, unless it's a special occasion dress or something you wouldn't wear everyday, and I'm like that with bags too. I've sold a lot, given some away and now have a small collection that I use all the time. No offence to anyone who collects but i'd rather use my bags and know that it was money well spent.

Ok, so now I must confess, my total bag count is in the 50s, (yeah I know)but that includes evening gown bags and little clutches. But I chased after each one and unless I can see my life without them I keep them. I also know I go through phases where all I want to carry are satchels, or maybe I go through a tote phase so then they all get to be the stars of the show. I don't feel overwhelmed but rather blessed. Sometimes I will re - organize my closet so I can see them all or so some that are in the back get more of a chance.
