Do you consider resale value when buying a bag?

No, I just buy what I love - the potential 're-sale' value doesn't enter my mind - I'm a bit like a newlywed I suppose: I'm not buying it planning to sell it :p I do however consider the style longevity of a bag, as in "Will I still love this in 5, 10, 15 years time?" Bags that hold their style cachet over time are bags that remain desirable. To carry that line of thought a little further, such bags are likely to hold more value in the pre-owned market than a bag that was a flash-in-the-pan. So maybe I am considering re-sale value tangentially...
I have purchased most of my bags brand new however I've also bought 5 pre-owned (2 Tom Ford YSL, 2 Chanel and 1 Hermes). I've also bought 3 pairs of earrings that were pre-owned (2 pairs that were the same style but different metals and retired by T&Co, 1 pair from an estate sale.)
Sometimes a piece or style or colour or leather is discontinued and pre-owned is the only option. Other times, it just makes great financial sense - if an item is in great condition and you are confident with your seller re. authenticity then it's a fantastic way to purchase a luxury item

Yes, resale value is a consideration. To me, it's a little bit like buying stocks that pay dividends. Interestingly, it appears to be an indicator of where the quality of the brand is heading (generally) when their bags gain or lose resale value. I sold a 1999 LV Speedy just recently for almost what I paid for it, which is somewhat remarkable considering that a new Speedy is not hard to get, and how flooded the market is with fakes. Of course, it is a reflection of price increases, but it also says something about LV quality, and the longevity of the Speedy in particular.

I don't because if I did I would be carrying bags that I probably don't like. When I purchase a bag, I purchase it if I can afford it and most importantly to be able to afford to write that money off if necessary. I use my bags without a single care for resale, the same as I wear my clothes, my shoes and drive my car. This doesn't mean I don't look after them, I do, as I do all of my belongings but not with the thought of resale in my mind. If I considered the resale value of bags I think I would drive myself nuts when purchasing and using them.
