Do you carry big bags and not fill them with up with stuff?

I generally only carry enough to [almost] fill my TB20 or B25. When I carry my K35 or other larger formats (I have a large Fendi Peekaboo and a Faure Le Page 32cm tote), they're generally pretty empty, but they fit the laptop nicely (well my current laptop is technically a bit too big for the K35 but it gets stuffed in sometimes anyway). Honestly, whatever makes you happy...a small bag overflowing or a large empty bag, whatever who cares it's your life to enjoy :flowers:

I know what you mean about hobo style shoulder bags! They look cute but all I can think of is how difficult it will be to find things in it!
I look at the Arcon bag and visualise everything in a puddle on the bottom on the bag and wondering if they attached the key clip and front pocket knowing that they were imperative for usability?

I would rather carry an almost empty big bag than a smaller bag so stuffed to the brim I cant find anything in it.
I usually carry big bags and my daily essentials are 2 iPhones (work one is is a Max size personal the smaller version), calvi or CDG zip up card holder, lipstick & hand sanitiser in a pouch, Kindle and keys.
The only time I find carrying a big bag annoying is in a slouchy or hobo style shoulder bag (like the Massai) because I find everything sort of tumbles about and I have to dig to find things.
I cant stand mini bags and I think people actually look silly wearing a mini bag and holding a phone that doesn't fit (sorry!)
I totally agree with you about hobo style bags: they are an endless black hole and, when I used them, it took me ages to find things inside. I bought a Massai when it first came out, lovely bag but totally unpractical , I sold it and told myself never again a hobo!

I have to say that, although I don't like small bags and I would feel totally stupid carrying one, I admire you ladies who only carry 1 or 2 things....I have always in my bag: my wallet, a change purse, my phone, 2 sets of keys, my sun glasses, my reading glasses, a pouch with medecines and other small things, another smaller pouch with my CCs and driving licence, several packets of tissues, hand wetwipes, a packet of sweets....These are the main things that I always carry with me, so a small bag is impossible!

I don’t carry much these days, but I hate fiddling with stuff to make it fit in a small bag. And I appreciate having space to put things I might pick up whilst out and about. I like a slouchier bag too, which I think are better at handling small loads than stiff bags where things can rattle around inside making an embarrassing racket.

Loving everyone’s responses!

If I consider what’s really essential for me on off-duty days - it would be:

Phone & lip balm: I use Apple Pay to pay for everything so I rarely have to pull out my cards and I haven’t touched cash in months! I also use my phone to open my apartment door so I don’t have keys to carry either. For this reason the Evelyne tpm gets a lot of use!

Mind you, I live in NYC so I don’t drive day to day, and I walk to most places in the neighborhood.

When I go to the office I carry a lot more, like
2 laptops and chargers
planner
notebook
small case for blotting paper, powder, hand cream
Work passes

I’ve resorted to carrying the tumi backpack and a WOC, because it’s much more convenient to go on the subway. Now I want to bring healthy meals with me to work so I might have add a canvas tote to this mix!

I realize that if I live in a city where I have to drive everywhere then I maybe able to do the handheld bag and heels looks regularly, one day!! :amuse:

My minimum daytime carry would be my iPhone Pro in a sleeve with a slot that also holds a card or two, car keys, house keys, sunglasses, lip balm, lipstick, little silk'in change purse with basic meds/spare contact lenses etc. But I would never go smaller than my Bolide 25 or Halzan 25 for this (because I think I'd look silly carrying anything smaller for day).

At night I love my Kelly Cut best because I need to carry a pair of reading glasses (my eyes get dry in the evening and I usually end up taking out my contact lenses). I can just get my minimum carry (minus the sunglasses) into that or if I really try hard my little Verrou.

For day though, a B30 or K28/32 is ideal - it fits all the above plus a small card case/wallet, small magnetic power bank for my phone, Petit H case with a tiny bit more makeup, Kindle/iPad mini, B&W earbuds.

I love my BV hobos and my The Row Annie (also a hobo style) because they are slouchy and comfortable to carry but all the essentials tend to get crammed into the interior slip pockets so they don't end up in @maxroxxherhandbags' puddle at the bottom!

Very similar to mine. Here’s what inside my B30. :yucky:

This is so funny. I, too, have a bag insert that’s equally empty. I was at the store the other day and my SA got a glimpse of my insert. He commented on it and leaned over to take a better look at the insert. I was mortified that the bag was so empty.

Now I know I’m not the only one
