Do/would you wear solitaire or engagement style rings on other fingers?

I have no problem wearing any type of ring I want, and I think others should wear whatever they like. I’ve also been married for decades, and sometimes wear no ring at all. A large enough solitaire is similar enough to a cocktail ring. I honestly don’t think other people spend much time scrutinizing my rings. I’m Asian, and a one carat diamond is not considered large. My grandmother wore oversized jewelry, including diamond rings, but I do not recall a traditional Western style wedding and engagement set. My mother disliked all rings.

I don't think 1 carat is average in the US, I think we get desensitized to seeing bigger rings on social media, even if they're not real diamonds.
So what is the average carat size in the US? I am just curious and I honestly don't know. I don't follow social media. The more I look at social media, it's like getting on the train of consumerism. It's hard to get off that train. It's never enough. It's buy, buy, and buy. "Oh, she has a bigger diamond, that'd look good on me! I need it!"

Oh I have no idea, I just feel like we only see what others want us to see/believe. My sis didn't even get a diamond lol
It's kind of like seeing all the filtered photos and believing women actually look like that irl.

I know many of my friends who are parents stop wearing their e-rings after childbirth (e.g. diaper change, bathing a newborn etc. are not convenient with a ring on).

Every generation is different. Also, from my understanding, many people from Asian cultures see 1ct diamond ring as quite significant in size. However, I believe 1ct size diamond ring is the average in the US? I could be wrong. I know there are 4Cs, but just to focus on carat size per se.
I agree with @Swanky . I do not think 1 carat is average in the US.

If you live in affluent areas or cities, a one carat or higher is relatively more common (or more likely expected). I do, and so it has become common to see.
However, where I work, in what I consider to be a true middle-class community setting of a solid mix of blue and white collared workers, (which is more realistic), among my colleagues almost everyone has under a carat. I am probably one of the few who has what is considered a "very large" e-ring (1.54c). It garnered a lot of attention at work which I was engaged. And it's bigger than my previous boss's e-ring and my current boss's e-ring, (not trying to show of, just to give you an idea of things).

In our circle of friends from China (my husband and mine), those who are from wealthy families, there is that expectation that it better be one carat or higher.
However, for my circle of friends in the US, the carat size varies and even the stones vary a lot. I have see morganite, sapphire, emeralds, etc.
One of my friends had a 4 carat that everyone thought was a diamond. I knew from one look that it was a moissanite. (which is a beautiful stone, don't get me wrong, nothing against it, it has a beautiful brilliance that can shine more brightly than a diamond, she just kind of never publicly said whether it was a diamond or not, until her bf later told me in a hush-hush way that it was a moissanite.)

For the Chinese people that you see on social media with their 3 carat diamond rings, birkins and kelly, they do exists, however, they are just a small fraction of a very large country.
Those who come to the states to go to school and buy property, you are looking at the top 5-10% of wealth from China.
It feels like there's a lot of them, because China's population is just that big. So 5% of China's population (1.4 billion) compared to 5% of the US's population (332 million) is a lot more.
5% of 1.4 billion is 70 million.
5% of 332 million is 16.6 million.

It is something I have to remind myself from time to time. Because I know I live in a bubble and my reality is not "ordinary".

No idea! And I wouldn't trust any jewelry website, who knows where they get their data and how they run their stats.

I am surrounded by consumerism, but it is something that I saw everyday growing up, so I'm a little desensitized by it. Doesn't mean I won't be influenced. I have and I have bought things. I am on social media and YouTube almost everyday. And I watch things, but I'm at that point where my eyes just glaze over and I just see a bunch of stuff. Just once a while something perks my interest and I'll either buy it or think about it and not buy it lol.
I feel that the more stuff I have, the less interested I am in buying. So the less I get excited by the next "hot" thing. I'm now way pickier and choosier than I was 5, 10 years ago.
Of course, for some people, they will never get tired of it. :P Which is not necessarily a bad thing, it's nice to see that joy and enthusiasm of falling in love with what makes a person's heart sing. Makes me happy for them.

We are all surrounded by consumerism to some extent. It’s having that self control and exercising delayed gratification are the issues sometimes :P. Social media do make people compare with others and reflect on what a person has (at least I did). To avoid that social media pressure, I deleted those accounts a long time ago. I am happier. Focus on living the best life every day. I am also selling quite a bit of stuff to declutter.

1.54ct ring is very large (according to my standard, I guess lol). Well, as cliche as it sounds - it’s the love that matters.

My social circle, and work place, i don’t think I have seen a one carat diamond. Someone close as in my aunt does have some. But mine definitely isn’t.
Years ago, my husband asked if we liked to upgrade it to 1carat. Straight no to him because I love and remember everything that went in that marriage proposal; and not the size. Why fix it when it’s not broken.

He was probably very pleased.

Yes, it is for me as well!
My husband actually wanted to get me a 2ct but I insisted a 1.5 was plenty enough. (I didn't want him to spend too much money.)

He still gripes about it from time to time. Saying he should have gotten a 2ct. Ah well, he's a sort of go big or go home guy.

But as you said, carat size isn't what really matters

Update: I received my new WG pear diamond ring that I wished to wear on my right hand. The ring is beautiful (and I love it) but I am in doubt :(
Do you think it overpowers (I hope I use the right word) my actual wedding set in rose gold? It seems like the diamond of my ER is very small besides this one.
Plus I am usually dressed quite casually.. I wear lots of Zadig and Voltaire clothes and Sandro sneakers (French brands) to give you an idea.. Maybe the pear style is more dressy?
Would you keep it or return it?
Knowing that I will not use it instead of my ER in rose gold but wear them all together.
Finally, I wish I could get a bracelet instead but I can’t due to chronic pain on my wrists.. That’s why I got a ring for our 20th anniversary :) but I am not sure it’s the one although I really wanted a bigger diamond in a WG set!
Sorry for the long posts and thanks for your thoughts!
