Do most people around you carry fake bags?

None of my friends are into designer bags so they have no problem carrying something cheap they got that's by a no-name designer.

However, I work in a semi-upscale mall with lots of tourists. I see SO MANY fake Chanel it's just sickening. They just look so cheap. I have seen some fake LV but I have seen probably just as much real LV. And I rarely see fake Coach but my mall also has a Coach Outlet so that may be why.

There isn't much you can do. Unless it is a direct copy with authenticity cards claiming it is authentic D&G, it's not really considered counterfit. If you change the slightest thing, (ie: LV fakes with 0's instead of O's) it's not considered a counterfeit.

That's not true. Regardless of what is changed, it is still counterfeit if it has a trademarked brand name or monogram print on it. Louis Vuitton with an oval shaped O is still Louis Vuitton. Therefore, it is counterfeit.

I'm just going by what happened to a kiosk in a local mall that sold fake LV. It was considered "designer inspired" and because the O's looked like 0's it was enough of a change for legal action not to happen.

You only have to change about 15% of the bag according to copywright laws.

I see tons of fake Coach and LV around here. I would say 90% of the Coach bags I see out in public are fakes, it is that prevalent here. I even see fake Dooney bags (the zebra print ones).

I have two coworkers that must have closets full of fake bags, because they carry 2 or 3 different fakes each week.

No. It just isn't done. To the point that the salon up the street that was selling them has removed all of the fake bags and ceased selling them. I don't know if someone reported them or they realized it was probably bad for business.

My friends don't because I got on them about it. My family isn't into to designer bags and the ones that are carry the real thing. HOWEVER you can buy them quite easily around here. I always hear of "purse parties," people sell them at garage sales, even the tanning salon up the street from me sells them. I have heard of police busting people for selling them, but yet they seem to pop right back up.

I used to carry around fake purses b/c I used to be extremely frugal with my money and my aunt from HK was an expert at buying the most legit fakes that China produces, and send them to me as gifts, I never requested them. She would just overshop and send them to me. I wore it around b/c it was free and I needed a purse.

Then I got into real leather purses, RM in particular, and its been downhill from there. There is a difference in quality and care for my bags taht I adore. None of my friends are into bags, and I don't talk to anybody except for TPFers b/c it's really embarrassing amongst my friends and colleagues. They must not know how much I love purses.

I don't mind ppl carrying around fakes, its just them, its cheaper it makes them happier. Sooner or later they'll realize what it means to buy a real bag. Its an issue of maturity and everyone goes at different rates.

None of my friends carry fakes. The ones that do care about designer items, carry them, and the ones that don't, carry any bag they can find at the mall.
I don't have a problem with either.

I don't see carrying a fake or a very expensive bag as a moral problem, even though I've heard from others in each of those camps. From my perspective, in either case, I assume they may have bought it because they loved the bag and either a) didn't have enough money for the real thing or b) had way too much money (both of those are their business and not something I'm going to presume to judge a person on.) I don't think fake or genuine luxury designers are really any more ethical than each other in terms of their tendencies towards business practices either... I'm sure there's a big variety in both.

However, I dislike monogrammed bags that are either fake or real because they just seem to scream "SOME BRAND NAME HERE!!!!" and I have a hard time imagining that anyone bought it for its beauty (as it seems entirely bereft of any). And, in this case, it also makes no difference to me who actually made it and how much they paid for it.

Now, that said, I've seen some fakes for sale, of my genuine Marc Jacobs bag, and they were laughably mutilated. I guess this made me feel good for not paying more for the same quality. It certainly was not the same. If they would have been indistinguishable, though, I'd be inclined to think I paid too much, although I've never actually bought a fake anything.

Whenever I go out or even just sitting on the subway, I see so many girls with fake bags like LV, Coach, etc. When I went to the mall with my bf, he tells me that there are a lot of girls having fake bags especially around the area where he lives. In my opinion, fake bags are something that I do not like AT ALL!

oh yeah.

sadly, manila is loaded with fake designer stuff... oh well.
back in high school, a lot of students carry fakes... and i doubt they know that "designer" even exist. lol. some of those students buy the bag just because they like the design, not because of the "label".
not sure in college though...i see some who carry fakes. bleh.

no, i rarely see them. I live in a pretty well off area, and some choose designer, and those who don't - carry mid end, other and/or no name bags. I almost never see fakes, and a few times I have they were on teens.

When I travel, it's a different story LOL
