I don’t plan to sell any of my bags but the preloved market feels slower than it was a year or two ago, perhaps due to general consumer sentiment over the economy. Personally, I don’t think luxury handbags should be viewed as investments. They are not like property or stocks and don’t appreciate in the same way. Buy a bag because you love it and will carry it.

They are def not moving - a lot of bags are just sitting there in the chanel FB groups! Economy is a lot weaker, lots of people have been laid off, people are choosing to spend their disposable income on travel instead of material goods. For those with the income, it's certainly a good time to get a deal on the secondhand market! Our chanel threads have so few posts these days 
I don't buy with resale in mind, so I have no idea! For me, personally, they hold their value as I can carry them forever because they'e classic. I get my moneys worth for sure.

Market doesn’t move fast like used to be, one of course like you guys said economy, 2 is these luxury companies pushing out new bags too much too frequently, fighting for clients with secondary market sellers.
That being said, I believe Chanel generally speaking resale much better than other brands such as LV and Hermes, but you have to watch out style material etc, that’s same to other brands too. And at down market with higher prices items, some may sit and not sell at all.

Agree with all of this. A selling point a few years ago was that the bags held value, so they felt like stable purchases even if you have no intention of ever selling. High resale prices also indicates demand or what is hot in fashion at the moment. Now I am seeing bags sell for 1-2k. Crazy!!
I buy what I love to keep forever. Alot of ppl complain about resale being slow in groups and I think it's because there are soo many super fakes and scammers now that it's easier to buy from the store or somewhere like fashionphile. Sadly I no longer trust the FB selling groups.
I agree with the rest. They are not selling as fast and they are selling at much lower resale price as they used to compared to like couple years ago. I see a lot of Chanel bags selling for less than they retail price too. It's crazy. I don't ever resell my bags. Love them too much even if they sit there sometimes more than others.
