Wow! I’ve never looked at MCM online, but you are right, it’s a PVC coated canvas! Until today I’ve only seen MCM pieces in person. In comparison to LV, as far as the canvas quality and the coating process, look and feel, I would have bet money it was just plain old PVC, not PVC coated canvas. Either way, it doesn’t have a quality feel, IMO.
Do any LV lovers also own MCM handbags?

I have3 backpacks and a Doctor bag and a handful of wallets, phone covers etc. I think the items are cute when I want to change it up.
I don’t own any but think they are very attractive. Believe they are less expensive than LV.
I think the style is cute but I’m not a fan of purchasing bags and SLG’s at full price and then a few months later you see them on sale or in a discount store.
I think that’s why I’m not a fan of Gucci - I purchased a small crossbody from Gucci and a few months later it was on sale in another store [emoji53]
The same with Chloe - I went to Neiman Marcus and asked about a Chloe bag and the SA told me “oh - I think it’s over there on the “sale” table!” [emoji53].

I used to own an MCM tote in the style of the Neverfull. Gave it away to my sister as it was too big, and the canvas is really thick. It feels much thicker than LV’s canvas, and is coated in a way to mimic leather. Not a fan of their leather trims either, somehow they got mouldy a lot faster than my other leathers?
That said, it’s all the rage in Asia since Korea bought over the brand and started peppering Kpop stars with MCM

FYI. Gucci doesn’t do handbag sales anymore and haven’t for a while. Occasionally you can score a sale through department store but it’s pretty rare and generally done thru private links sent to customers with few choices. Of course there are outlets. We’ve been talking about lack of action on Gucci forum and the fact it might be due to no more sales.
I love LV! But I also like MCM. I own a backpack and a hobo bag. The quality is excellent, sometimes I think better than LV. My hobo bag is my winter workhorse-nothing happens to this bag! Snow, rain, you name it! Plus, it has also a crossbody strap, major plus for me. The bag is so indestructible, that I’m considering buying one of their totes as a diaper bag for when my baby comes! I would never consider an LV tote for that...
However, in terms of luxurious image and history one cannot compare the two brands.
What I like about MCM is that they also have black canvas, which is much more discreet and goes with my wardrobe, whereas LV brown canvas has limited options for me personally. Also, I have the feeling that lately LV doesn’t offer bags that are practical to me, which makes me really sad.
Bottom line, LV is for sure the brand I love, but i like MCM’s Black canvas.

The quality of MCM is great. My sister has one of their coated canvas totes and she practically used it nonstop for 2 years as a work bag. Trust me she doesn’t baby her bags, quite the opposite in fact. Her tote still looks new after I cleaned it up a bit! No scuffs, tears, or stretches, all stitching intact. It’s not for everyone but I can’t deny that’s its great quality.
I will say that the quality of the MCM WOC's that I bought is above and beyond my expectations. However, if I see my MCM WOC's on sale, I might not consider buying MCM again.
To-thelostlala-You make a good point!!!!!!!!! But, I do think items on sale "cheapen" the brand. I am not sure I would buy a handbag that was on sale. I love LV handbags and the fact that they are NEVER on sale. For some reason though the quality and designs of MCM are catching my eye. If I buy too many I might regret it though.
