Hi NP! I have two: a Kelly long in blue zanzibar and a Passant long:

You didn't mention the Passant, but what I really like about it using just the shell (i.e., this)

as a clutch and the interior parts in my bags for cards and cash. Just using the "guts" of the Passant makes a very light wallet.

I've been hoping to change jobs for some time now and have promised myself that when I do get a new position, I will celebrate by replacing my 12 year old, well-loved and well-used non-Hermes wallet with a Hermes one. In preparation, I've been checking out the different H wallets. I like more compact wallets so that rules out the long models. I've narrowed it down to 2 choices:
1. Silk'in Compact: I've been lusting after this since I saw that some models come with a bright yellow Equateur lining. Equateur is my favorite H design and yellow one of my favorite colors. I feel like I would get a shot of happiness every time I glimpsed that sunny lining. However the outside seems to be only available in mauve sylvestre (I don't like pastels) or rouge H (I like brighter, cheerier colors). And I hate wallets where you have to fold the bills. Still debating if my love of the yellow Equateur overrides these concerns. Or perhaps I should follow NP's lead: purchase the Silk'in change purse and get another wallet - best of both worlds! But I do like to keep my bags light and the simplicity of only having one wallet that fulfills all functions... Anyway, if anyone has experience to share regarding the Silk'in I'd be super interested!
2. Clic 12: This seems to be the perfect wallet to me: Very classical design, clean lines, no in-your-face big H like the Constance or fussy turnlock/sangles mechanism like the Kelly. You don't even have to fiddle around trying to get a tab into a slot to close it, it just clicks open and closed. And you don't have to fold your bills! Plus it comes in pretty much every color you could want. I'm very tempted by the Rose Azalee but worry that the lighter color would show dirt and be prone to color transfers. If anyone has any experience with wallets in Epsom or Chevre and how they handle dirt/hold up to constant use, I'd be very interested to hear.

I got three out of all ( Clic 16, compact Kelly and long Kelly,) and after I read your article I am thinking I will add The Silk’In Compact Wallet. Thank you again for the very helpful article as always.
Personally, I love the Clic 16 when traveling to a tropical country, the most under the radar but useful and can be wet without any mark. You can overstuff it and when done, it will come back to its shape. It was made with Swiff calfskin, soft and reshapes easily. The only thing I don't like is when it is overstuffed the two corners of the flap will curve outward.
The compact Kelly, I use on a lazy day when I really don't want to be abuse by my children. You know what I mean right? They see you with a purse they will bring along their "favorite but unnecessary things" along with them and then that one will end up in my purse somehow. :hrmm:
The Long Kelly is for date night with my DH, movie, etc...

Great article, very informative. Was particularly keen to know more about Constance wallet.
Once I read a book when the main female character had an Hermes wallet and as it was a Polish book I thought it was super sophisticated (H is not present there and not really widely known apart from Birkin) and since really wanted one
I pulled the trigger on Bearn but due to high to me price went for a black with gold rose hardware. Love it, it’s very elegant but now regretting not diving into H wealth of colour. Think the next one might be Constance...
Love the comment under your article saying somebody’s Bearn lasted at least 14 years. Good value for money - this is what I expect of luxury.

Thank you for another great article. I have the Bearn compact, the Bearn wallet, and the Azap and love them all. I use the Azap as my every day work horse because I can stuff everything including my phone into it. The Bearns I use for my smaller bags. But could someone explain the difference between the different long Bearn wallets? I see listings on h.com for Bearn wallet, Bearn Classic wallet and Bearn Wallet, Medium Model.

Another great and informative article. Thanks so much, NP!

I have a Bearn and a Kelly Classic (and a few Calvis and Bastias). Thinking about Silk-in Classic or Compact (I love the happy interiors and the zip-around feature), but also intrigued by the Clic-H in the smallest size. I guess that's more of a clutch, though. Hope you do a feature on H clutches!

A question about the Cinhetic: what is the little extra pouch thing in the interior pocket?

Great article!
I have several Dogon duo wallets which find highly functional. I like it because my credit cards are hidden
& it also doubles as a clutch to use for dinner & summer nights. I have also used the karo in the same manner.
I recently acquired a Mykonos alligator Bearn which I just love.. It is functional & fits the bill.
What I most love besides the quality &craftsmanship of Hermes is the rainbow of colors.
So pretty when you look in your bag & see the variety of SLG's to play with.

I decided I wanted a new wallet and made an appointment with my SA. I had zero interest in the Kelly wallet as I thought the fastening would be a total PITA.

Then she brought out a box, opened it and my jaw dropped.

Great article - highlights the traits of each design. It actually came in handy for me as I’m researching for my first H wallet purchase probably at year’s end. Now I’ve all the options presented in one article rather than poring over volumes of forum threads!
