I've been hoping to change jobs for some time now and have promised myself that when I do get a new position, I will celebrate by replacing my 12 year old, well-loved and well-used non-Hermes wallet with a Hermes one. In preparation, I've been checking out the different H wallets. I like more compact wallets so that rules out the long models. I've narrowed it down to 2 choices:
1. Silk'in Compact: I've been lusting after this since I saw that some models come with a bright yellow Equateur lining. Equateur is my favorite H design and yellow one of my favorite colors. I feel like I would get a shot of happiness every time I glimpsed that sunny lining. However the outside seems to be only available in mauve sylvestre (I don't like pastels) or rouge H (I like brighter, cheerier colors). And I hate wallets where you have to fold the bills. Still debating if my love of the yellow Equateur overrides these concerns. Or perhaps I should follow NP's lead: purchase the Silk'in change purse and get another wallet - best of both worlds! But I do like to keep my bags light and the simplicity of only having one wallet that fulfills all functions... Anyway, if anyone has experience to share regarding the Silk'in I'd be super interested!
2. Clic 12: This seems to be the perfect wallet to me: Very classical design, clean lines, no in-your-face big H like the Constance or fussy turnlock/sangles mechanism like the Kelly. You don't even have to fiddle around trying to get a tab into a slot to close it, it just clicks open and closed. And you don't have to fold your bills! Plus it comes in pretty much every color you could want. I'm very tempted by the Rose Azalee but worry that the lighter color would show dirt and be prone to color transfers. If anyone has any experience with wallets in Epsom or Chevre and how they handle dirt/hold up to constant use, I'd be very interested to hear.
