Hi everyone! Saw this one on display at my store today. Does anyone know if it‘s a blue box bag? I‘m looking to buy my first blue box and I was wondering if I should add it to my list or not. I love the look of it but I would like something rare to add next so what do you all think?View attachment 6090562
Yes, this Kelly Casaque Étoilée comes in the blue-lined orange box.

Hey all. Not sure if this is the correct thread, hope so. My question is about Barenia and Barenia Fauborg availability, and what could be good alternatives.

I recently got my first QB (K28 retourne BF fauve PHW) and am absolutely in love. Thinking of asking for a Birkin 30 or MAYBE 35 next, in either Barenia, preferably fauve, definitely PHW.

But i’ve understood those leather’s arent very popular = hard to come by even if you do want them. Also my friend said a Birkin35 in BF would be really heavy.

Do you guys have any thoughts on the availability of Barenias now? And what could be good alternatives colour- and feel-wise? I _love_ the idea of patina and cannot wait to start seeing it on my Kelly

Unlike Barénia Faubourg which is available for Podium, Barénia is only Push Offer*, meaning your store may not even receive any. In other words, your SM is able to order Barénia Faubourg items from Paris, but they are not able to order Barénia items, making Barénia items inherently quite rare. Nevertheless, you should absolutely let your SA/SM know that you want a Barénia bag so that if one does arrive to your store, it can be set aside for you.

For a bag that is slightly lighter than Barénia Faubourg but with the same look, perhaps opt for Naturel-Sable Togo.

Leathers that will patina (besides Barénia/Barénia Faubourg) are unfinished or semi-finished leathers like Vache Naturelle and Vache Naturelle Grainée (not that either of those are currently available). If patina is what you're after, your best bet may be to hold out for a Barénia bag or to explore options from the pre-loved market. Best of luck! :flowers:

*This post from @QuelleFromage nicely summarises Push Offers.

I would first explore whether you want a B30 or B35. There is a big difference in size, depth, weight.

If you want barenia Fauve, I would start a search on the preloved market. Barenia Fauve is quite durable, in that it can withstand rain, but one has to avoid anything oily as that can mark. If one wants a barenia bag to retain a new look, Barenia Faubourg is a better choice, but the look and the hand, that of pebbled leather is entirely different. You can also peruse barenia Fauve on this thread: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads...w-your-bags-and-accessories-o.318633/page-222

IMO only, I prefer vache natural, but only if the patina is carefully, evenly nurtured (by @docride). It’s really in individual preference. What may be easier to get than either is some box leather, but my preference is for vintage box (the scratches are what will eventually blend into a glow or patina). I really dislike the idea of spending exponentially more on overpriced resale heritage leather, and the current cost of boutique box is quite high. And also not easy to get. I prefer well priced bargains that are structurally sound. (Uou would need to authenticate prior to purchase from a reputable reseller who accepts PayPal backed by cc or some form of payment that is NOTwire t4ansfer).

Some people like gold swift which may be more matte and velvety. Here is an action pic of my gold swift 30B. I’m wearing Fauve barenia sneakers (MtM hiro yanagamachi, not Hermes). My jacket is vintage deadstock Hermes, from JPG’s last season, 2011. The jacket label is 100% veau calfskin Becerro (no idea what that is), but it is closer to the color of patinated barenia Fauve.

Second pic is a patinated Fauve HAC 32 with a bbk 28. Third pic is DH’s gold vache hunter evelyne 33 (IRL DH’s evelyne is richer and deeper in color) . Fourth pic contains a few gold bags. In the far left is a 35 barenia (Fauve) trim II.

This explains a lot. And absolutely yes, I already texted my SA about how much I love the BF of my K28, and plan on making a big deal of it when I see him next haha 😊

Great, i will add this to my research!

Yeah, it really is tricky. There’s also a not-small part of me that struggles with the idea of yet more prespend for the sake of getting another 10+k€ bag, so a lot to think about.

I would definitely welcome the wear and tear, i love patina that really shows the use of the bag

You’re so right. From what I’ve seen though, preloved Barenia/Barenia Fauborg that is available to me (Nordics) is really rare, and the prices are just silly to me. I wish we could just get the bags we want without paying huge premiums on resale, or from the boutique without all the prespend.

Loved seeing your bags, thanks for all the pics! Thank you both for the valuable info!

Perhaps someone can answer this?
I am based in Europe and my store has the ˋwishlist´ system. I had to say which exact model and hardware I wanted (in my case a Kelly 25, Sellier with gold hardware) and was able to list 3 colors, or color families… I requested Bleu Celeste, Bleu Brume and Anemone. The wish is valid for 12 months and the store does their best to find a match.
The SA offered no help at all regarding which colors were actually available, in fact they had pretty limited knowledge about any of the leathers and color combinations.
I am pretty sure that Celeste is around, but the other two….? I am starting to think that I have ˋwasted´my two colors and should perhaps ask if I can change (I was told it would be possible to make adjustments). Is there anything similar to Bleu Brume or Anemone right now? I can’t think of anything.
Does anyone know if there’s any chance that Bleu Brume or Anemone will be produced? Epsom leather is my preference as I already have two Chèvre Kellys.
Any feedback or intel would be greatly appreciated! :flowers:

I haven’t seen Blue Brume or Anémone in Epsom for a couple seasons. Céleste is around still.

I would look into the colours Cassis and Bleu du Nord as alternates for Anémone and Bleu Brume, respectively. While I have seen neither for Epsom Kelly 25 this season, I’ve seen both for other quota bags in Veau Madame (similar to Epsom). This will at least help give your SA an idea of current/recent seasonal colours off of which to base your wishlist. You may also be able to ask your SA for the leather/colour sample kit. Most stores have these, you just have to ask to see them. Best of luck! ;)

Thank you so much for your reply! It’s much appreciated

I did see the wooden box with color samples, but that offered no help at all as I know most of the colors already and the box itself offered no indication of what is actually in production right now. I think this knowledge is seriously lacking in my store  They seem to just write down whatever the client suggests and leave it at that.

Veau Madame would be fabulous…I will mention it to my SA. Thanks again for your insight!

Rose Mexico and Rose Shocking are not available for Epsom. Rose Tyrien and Rose Extrême are available for Epsom, but the former is not available for the current season and the latter is only available currently for SLGs.

There was Rose Mexico for Chèvre in 2023, so you may be able to still find some trickling in (depending on the size of bag you’re after). There is another bright pink you may like called Rose Pop; it was available last year in Chèvre Chamkila. While I haven’t seen much of it this year, you may be able to inquire with your SM or SA to see if your store has any more coming in.
I purchased a B35 listed as 2013 Rose Tyrien Epsom leather. In September, I took it in for spa treatment and received the following response “I wanted to kindly remind you that the general spa service will not aid the condition of the handles (color-wise). The only thing they will rework on the handle is the finishing/edging. However, if you wanted a complete handle replacement, I can send it to Paris for a major makeover.”

I agreed to send it to Paris. In early January, Paris responded. “Please note that a handle replacement is not possible since we no longer carry the color.”

I was truly surprised at that response regarding the color Rose Tyrien. Am I missing something? Thoughts?

To be quite frank, I’m rather surprised by that response too. Rose Tyrien was a fairly popular colour for Epsom— perhaps most notably for the Candy Collection. Granted, Rose Tyrien hasn’t been offered for Epsom in around a decade, but I’ve never known Hermès to run out of such a widely-produced colour (though, as we’re both finding out, it is possible.)

A colour’s availability at Spa is contingent upon factors such as popularity (or lack thereof), regulations on dye formulations, and stock. While I’m sure Hermès could technically produce more of that colour, they are probably taking into account these factors and the economical value of production costs*.

*That’s to say, if Hermès were to produce more of this combination, they would likely have to produce more than the quantity of leather needed for your handle alone which may not be very worthwhile for them.

I sent my kelly that needed a repair, H couldn't repair it due to the colour being rested as it needed a piece of leather to fix it 😭 and I can't use my kelly without this repair
