You mentioned that the ring was silver? Did they mention to you that silver isn't usually recommended to be sized? I've worked for a high-end jewelry store and we always told customers that we didn't recommend sizing on silver, as the metal is quite soft, so it may not come back looking as it had. Our jewelers in our factory wouldn't even size it, so we actually had to bring those items to another jeweler to get sized.

Hope your ring comes back perfect!

This is why I won't buy jewelry from Tiffany's anymore. They did major damage to my original engagement ring before we even got it out of the store we bought it from. And to add insult to injury, they lost it TWICE internally when they were sending it to NYC to find a suitable stone replacement to fit that setting. By the time we got something back--not a replacement we were going to accept--we were so furious (6+ weeks just to FIND IT), we wanted a refund. Not ever were we apologized to. We made sure they gave us a copy of the security tape in case they accused us of doing it, which they did when it got to NYC (FINALLY). I love some of their pieces and own several but there's not a snowballs chance in hell Id buy from them again, especially not this local store.

This is awful. I kept telling myself that I'd love to have an engagement ring from Tiffany's when I get married, but this is worrying me. I'm sorry to those who got their gorgeous rings damaged from this store. I can't believe the QC from this store is going downhill. I hope you, QueenDahlia will get your ring fixed. That ring is absolutely stunning too. I hope they can fix it for you!

I hope you get it sorted out
It's totally unacceptable to hand back a piece of jewelry in that condition.
If you're still unhappy when it's returned to you, get a new one...or get a refund!
Good luck

All I have to say is WOW...That is crazy! You most definitely are not being too picky at all...you paid for a new ring and a "new" condition ring is exactly what you should received, wether is was sized or not!! I would ask to speak to the store manager and demand a new ring to be sized properly. That service, wether from Tiffany or any other jeweler is just unacceptable!

When you get the ring back replaced or fixed let us know how you got on.Its a shame this happend to your ring the stone is a really stunning size and colour, this experiance is almost enough to put you off shopping with Tiffanys again.
Lets hope Tiffanys can give you a good outcome and restore your faith with good customer service:flowers:

I hope this doesnt sound ******y* but as the consumer you can demand what you want, you dont have to wait for them to fix the old ring if you would prefer a new one. Unless you want to wait I would just tell them that I want a new one...

They resized my engagement ring with no problems. I did have an issue with some pearl earrings and after they didn't do a good repair the manager gave me a new pair. Just go talk to a manager, I can't imagine its a big deal.

I won't buy from Tiffanys anymore either. Their SAs are just terrible - I went with my mother to buy a $20,000.00 ring. My mum works hard, she loved a very unusual large mandarin garnet with diamond shoulders as a dress/cocktail ring, she can get what she wants for her jewellery collection as far as I'm concerned. We had to order it from Chicago and when we went into the Brisbane store to collect, the service was pathetic. When you consider the marketing of Tiffanys - luxury, class etc (not to mention the fact that my mother was shelling out quite significant $ for a really beautiful piece of jewellery) consider this experience:
1. no offer of a seat - we were made to stand at the counter (W.T.F.)
2. no offer of a private viewing room - with a $20,000.00 ring, no subtlety in the sale, they were carrying on about the gorgy ring, talking about the price at full voice volume for everyone in the vicinity to hear - nice security, d-bags.
3. no offer of a glass of water - I don't need that for a retail experience, but every. single. other. fine. jewellery. store. I have ever been in, they offer you refreshment. You are given a seat. Prices are very discreetly shown to you.

Tiffany's is just bogan as far as I'm concerned, they have no class at all. And giving a repair piece back to you in that condition (with no apology, or suggestion that they got it wrong) is just such a bad attitude to have towards their client base.

Sorry to hijack your thread. I always tell people getting repairs at Tiffanys that you need to inspect it at the counter with the SA right there - they have no idea, they usually have no idea about jewellery craftsmanship, they certainly don't repair pieces in house that often - it's usually shipped out to a local jeweller. Nice customer service. NOT.

Why on earth would they even touch the prongs if they're just resizing the shank?? Did they switch rings on you?

Return the ring, get a brand new one and take it to an private jeweler who will take the time to size it right. Places like Tiffany's or Fortunoff's are churning adjustments around the clock, they rush through their work. I once requested engraving and I got back hand engraving but it was sub par, the letters were not straight. i.e. unprofessional looking.

O MY GOD.. that's absolutely unprofessional... I can't believe it.. that's absolutely insane.. they're totally loosing good customers (especially someone like your mom who's buying really expensive pieces from their store).....

They called me today to pick up the ring.. I'll get it tomorrow and I'll let you guys know how it went..
