Whoa! Reading this thread finally, I'm kind of glad I was busy with family so I totally missed this sale! It sounds scary and very hard to get bags even online. I would have been tempted by the florentine Chelsea and I'm trying to stop my spending on bags. Not even slow it down, but stop it. Let's see how that goes. Lol

Congrats to all who found the strength to just say no and congrats to all who got deals of the century on great bags!

I've tried the stop cold turkey before and it didn't work out at all. So, I've decided to tell myself to slow down. I have a couple of bags I'd like to find - but at clearance prices - so I'm hoping I will stick to that. Oh, and if I can stay out of Dillards I may have a chance at sticking to it. I have zero willpower when I see a killer deal on a bag I like in the store. Online, I can close the screen and move on. In person is a lot harder, lol.

For better or worse, I don't have a Dillards near me. So as tempting as the sale might be, I can only play online. But I didn't. I'm really trying to limit my handbag shopping to in person. Don't always stick to that goal (I ordered a lot by phone from the Dooney outlets this year and also ordered a handbag from ILD), but it does help cut down on the numbers of handbags I can buy. And the only in person places I go are the Dooney retail boutique (when they have a sale) and a Dooney outlet when I take a road trip with friends (not very often).

For those who got great treasures and wonderful sale prices.... enjoy... and I'll try not to be too tempted.

I'm glad I didn't know anything about this sale. I got a bag for Christmas, and am getting another bag for my birthday in a couple of weeks, so I didn't need to even look at more bags! Besides, now I've got my eye set on a really pretty Gucci, and that's never going to happen if I keep buying bags because of the bargain! Love the two Dooney's that I already got, though!

Ditto. Cold turkey never works for me, but I have slowed WAY down with impulse buying. I try to be selective and not buy something just because it's a good price, though some sales will reel me in! Amazing how much more I like a bag when it's half price!!

Three Taxi totes... black, ocelot and the black floral print. I hardly ever carry totes. I was blinded by the clearance price but managed to snap out of it. I'd rather have one really great bag than a closet full of bargains I don't carry. I would like a wallet in that black floral, though.

I ordered the floral and the zebra totes and the metallic zippy wallet. I've been stalking those at Macy's and was very close to getting one of them but when I went to get the floral one, ended up leaving with the quilted Selma, so I was happy they were still available online. Now hopefully they will ship soon. I know what you mean, I've been trying to cut on getting more bags so I really go by the 'are they bags I really want'. That's why I passed on all the Dooneys. None of them was one I really wanted. The ones I ordered were all in the 'I'm dreaming of them' category

The good thing is that now, I don't have any Coach and MK on my wish list. Well, maybe only the floral wallet too, and from Dooney maybe only one bag from the Sutton collection, but need to check them in person to decide.

This was shared on the Coach board... EEEEEEEK!!!! :wtf:

OMG That is crazy.

I don't have a Dillard's near by anymore so I can only shop their sales online and when I lived near one, I was not aware of those sales and I think I was never in town during them so I have never seen this in person, not even for the other sales that they have at the end of the month.

The craziest thing of the video is that you see people just grabbing the bags, without even caring for which one they get, you can see they are just trying to get as much as they can, so clearly they are resellers. I find it very annoying that they allow this to happen. I understand that they might only care about getting the money but they should think about how this damage the store's reputation with their customers . A lot of them might be customers that buy not only on this crazy sales but even at full price, so they might even lose some of those customers. I think they should do it in stages, maybe have a VIP sale first and have the SAs notify their customers, then the next day have a sale for everybody else, or something like that. And definitely they need to set up a limit and enforce it.

Exactly. The last sale I went to...probably 3 years ago now... there was a woman and her husband with at least 5 bags on each arm checking out. They had cleaned out the Coach section and the SA was HOLDING some things for them before the sale started. I was so incensed, I came home and called the store manager. I got the "not our policy, blah, blah..." but I'm sure nothing has changed.

Keep your eye on Ebay today...there will be TONS of "new listings". Grrrrrrrr.

Scary. Glad I was no where near there. Not the way I want to shop. I've been known to buy more than 1 handbag at a time (sometimes many more), but each one is a considered purchase. I look them over, think about them, and then make my selection. I could never shop in an atmosphere like that one. That's one of the reasons I avoid warehouse sales these days.

Best of luck to you on your "slow down" I know how hard it is to walk away from a great deal. I am helpless at the outlet.

The fact that these stores allow resellers to clean out the stock is just horrible. I like the VIP idea.

My new strategy is to picture myself carrying it in my everyday existence and to really think about if I will reach for it and how often I will reach for it. It sounds funny, but it has actually stopped me from quite a few purchase lately.

Now what's eating away at me is the email I just got from the Dooney outlet about their 70% off clearance! I wonder what bags are included. ;)

That might be the vid I shared on the Coach board, I could not believe it. Crowds like that are a nightmare and I just can't be in them anymore. I feel like I'm becoming claustrophobic in my old age, I like my space!!!

It's really annoying when you see someone with 3 or 4 of the EXACT same bag on each arm. There is no way they are buying for their own use. :censor:
