Now the general population has found out about ideal cut stones, the price has skyrocketed for them!

If possible, look at every stone individually. Some people are more color sensitive than others. Maybe you'll prefer the warmth a G, H, or I gives off. If you have to go to the lower end of the scale, sacrifice on everything but the ideal cut.

ok, will do. I am still awaiting diamond choices from jewelers. We will see what they come up with.

LOL! I won't ever own D flawless either. . . but it's because there's no way I or anyone else's untrained eyes or eyes w/o tools could tell the difference between D flawless and E VS2's! :D

Price Range varies, but with current Rapp. pricing I would estimate

GIA cert'd 1.57 EXC. D color, SI1 $13-15kper stone, Total $28-32k for pair

EGL cert'd 2.01 Ideal, E color, SI1 $18-23k per stone, Total $37-46K for pair.

i am jealous, i will never own earrings of D Flawless.

in fact, honestly if i saw earrings that perfect, i would think they were fake.

i guess i don't get out enough.

:) LOL, that is so funny. My husband wants me to get 1 carat each, D, IF or VVS1

I am ok with F 1.5 VVS1/2.

I have to go try them to see which size is good 1 or 1.5.

Ooh, you should get D, IF, ideals! They'd be absolutely stunning! But as has been said, crazy expensive!

I am thinking the same thing actually. He says that I should get the best pair we can afford right now. It maybe a good thing that it would look fake. :)

Thanks for the advice. I will go with 1 carat, D, IF or VVS1, and ideal/excellent cut.

omg, really diamonds studs cost that much now? man, I remember when I bought mine 11 yrs ago ( .90 each) it cost me about $3500 and I thought that was way too much, now it cost about 13-15k each?

My diamond studs are 4.18 ctw, F-IF, emerald cut. IMO you really need IF in emerald cut because they are so clear, but maybe not in round cut. They are extremely white and clear, and people who know diamonds know they're real, and the others think they're fake, which is OK with me.

To the dismay of my inner diamond lover, I have very small earlobes and the bigger sizes looked really bad on me.

My earrings are just shy of half a carat each (.49, .98 TCW) which keeps the price down, bezel set in platinum. (If you are bezel setting them, you get a different result than prong setting with regards to light etc..). My earrings are G, VVS1, ideal cut. I went for smaller stones, but *nicer* smaller stones. The best way to do it really is to try them on...
