Diamond earrings are classics that you can wear for the rest of your life and pass down to a daughter/niece.

If you factor in the "cost per use" and figure you will wear them 200 times a year for 10 years, it's worth it!

:( I don't have a daughter, do have a niece. I am hoping to give them to my sons to propose to their future wives...way in the future

Sorry if my post made you a little sad. I have no kids at all...my stuff will end up with a charity and that's fine with me.

But do think about how much value you'll get out of the earrings -- you're gonna wear them a lot.

Yes, I know. I plan to wear then everyday! This is why I want to get a good pair of earrings and enjoy them!

Really? Would love some information. This is what I am seeking:

This is what I’d like:

Color: D-F (I will consider G).
Clarity: IF-VVS2
Size: 1.5 – 2 carat each (total 3-4 carats)

I don't know how much the ball park is for these babies. I really don't want them any larger than 1.7 carats each. 2 is too big!

So according to bluenile.com, I looked up the stats for a diamond of D-G color, IF-VVS2, and 1.5-1.7 carats.

For each earring, the diamond is listed at anywhere from $17k to $56k. So for a pair, you are looking at $34,000 on the lower end or $112,000 if you truly want internally flawless, D colored, ideal cut stones.

I would highly suggest relaxing your requirements for clarity as others have suggested. Finding an eye-clean SI1 set could save you a ton of money, while still keeping the cut and color. Again, according to bluenile, a pair of GIA certified SI1 diamonds would be about $22k. Of course it depends on the diamond (some SI1 might not be eye clean, but others can be stunning).

Thank you for doing this for me. I have a person looking for me and I am hopeful that he will be very competitive.

Diamond stud earrings are definitely worth the investment. I have two pairs (one in white gold and one in yellow gold, both of which I was lucky enough to inherit) and wear one or the other almost every day.

Good luck shopping around for them. I'll be looking forward to your pictures once you buy them. :)

Thank you! I will post pictures when I get them. I found a pair on Mondera. I want to see if I can do better than their price.

I'm no expert, but I certainly don't think you need a D-F color! If you're looking for round brilliants, a well cut diamond in even a J-K will face up very white - to me at least, although I acknowledge that I'm not very color sensitive. I think you can make some fairly significant concessions on both color and clarity and still have very, very nice studs. Be sure to go to a good jeweler to look at loose stones. You may be surprised about how nice "lower quality" diamonds will look as studs.

Now the general population has found out about ideal cut stones, the price has skyrocketed for them!

If possible, look at every stone individually. Some people are more color sensitive than others. Maybe you'll prefer the warmth a G, H, or I gives off. If you have to go to the lower end of the scale, sacrifice on everything but the ideal cut.
