Diamonds or LV?

Have u thought about David Yurman jewelry? Quality diamonds are very expensive, but you can get a fabulous DY bracelet with colored stones for $1000-2000, and then have money to get a great LV. I have a small DY bracelet with one amethyst, and another with amethysts on the ends & other colored stones around it. Just a thought. My ring to match was around $700, lots cheater than diamonds.

Awwwww! What a nice granny! I would get a piece of jewelry that you love. You will wear it forever and always think of your granny for years to come. You can pass it down as a family heirloom.

I'd go with "a" diamond of a carat or so because smaller diamonds don't really appreciate in value, and something with a total carat weight of 1 carat or more is rather meaningless because the stones just aren't worth much.

Small stones are technically as common as dirt, and while DeBeers tries to manipulate the market by saying ALL diamonds are valuable, they're only doing that by creating a false shortage. As one guy said in an expose of the diamond world, every woman should be able to afford a diamond tennis bracelet because stones of that size are everywhere, and they shouldn't cost much more than CZ.

I'm a jewelry dealer, and the secondary market for a lot of diamond pieces is pretty sucky.

I've been thinking about it for the whole night. If I get diamonds then I would get a diamond ring. But if I decide to use the money on some LV, then I would get a piece of luggage, or a bag and some accessories. My dh thinks that I should give him half of my $3k and then spend the other half on something.:amuse: I told him that I'll think about it.

Why do men do that? I hate that. I am sure your grandmother is giving this to you for YOU to buy something nice for yourself. Tell your husband to hit his own granny up for something!
I would go for a nice piece of jewelry and a LV bag.

Selena is right! The money is yours alone!!!!!!! Da bling wins IMO. There are some beautiful Peretti and Picasso pieces at Tiffanys that are in your price range....also Cartier has the iconic rolling ring and love bracelet or ring.

diamonds. always. LV is nice, but diamonds will always be beautiful and remind you of the lovely gift your grandma gave you. you can get a good pair of 1 ctw studs for that price. if you wanted to add a little more you could get a nice sized (1 ct - 1.5 ct) solitaire pendant or ring or a VERY good sized multi diamond ring/pendant.

www.pricescope.com has amazing forums for finding the best diamonds for your money.
